Abstract

Critical thinking skills, curiosity and mastery of ecosystem concepts are domains in the 2013 curriculum. These three competencies in class VIIA SMP XYZ Jakarta are still not developed. This study aims to analyze the application of Scientific in improving critical thinking skills, curiosity attitude and critical thinking in learning the 2013 curriculum in class VIIA. The research method used is Classroom Action Research which consists of three cycles by carrying out the stages of planning, observation, action and reflection in each cycle. The research subjects were 33 students. The research instrument used to obtain data is an assessment rubric to measure critical thinking skills, curiosity attitude and mastery of ecosystem concepts. The results showed that there was an increase in critical thinking skills, curiosity and mastery of ecosystem concepts. The average value of critical thinking skills in cycle one is 52, in cycle two 62 and in cycle three 78. The average value for curiosity ability in cycle one is 47.1, in cycle two 58 and in cycle three 79. The average value the ability to master the ecosystem concept in cycle one was 77, in cycle two it decreased by 75 and in cycle three it was 83. From these results it can be concluded that the Scientific method can improve critical thinking skills, curiosity and mastery of ecosystem concepts in the 2013 curriculum learning of VIIA students in junior high school. XYZ Jakarta./Keterampilan critical thinking, curiosity dan penguasaan konsep ekosistem merupakan domain yang ada pada kurikulum 2013. Ketiga kompetensi tersebut di kelas VIIA SMP XYZ Jakarta masih belum berkembang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi penerapan Scientific dalam meningkatkan keterampilan critical thinking, curiosity dan penguasaan konsep ekosistem pada pembelajaran kurikulum 2013 di kelas VIIA. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang terdiri dari tiga siklus dengan melakukan tahapan perencanaan, observasi, tindakan dan refleksi pada masing-masing siklus. Subjek penelitian adalah 33 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data adalah rubrik penilaian untuk mengukur keterampilan critical thinking, curiosity dan penguasaan konsep ekosistem. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pada kemampuan critical thinking, curiosity dan penguasaan konsep ekosistem. Nilai rata-rata keterampilan critical thinking pada siklus satu adalah 52, pada siklus dua 62 dan pada siklus tiga 78. Nilai rata-rata curiosity pada siklus satu yaitu 47.1, pada siklus dua 58 dan pada siklus tiga 79. Nilai rata-rata penguasaan konsep ekosistem pada siklus satu yaitu 77, pada siklus dua mengalami penurunan 75 dan pada siklus tiga 83. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode Scientific dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir critical thinking, curiosity dan penguasaan konsep ekosistem pada pembelajaran kurikulum 2013 siswa VIIA di SMP XYZ Jakarta.
