Abstract

Communication skills, vocabulary and self-confidence are three competencies that are quite important to be developed, especially for children in their early age. Today, these things are often highlighted, especially by early childhood educators due to the development of the times that are quite advanced in terms of technology. The purpose of this study was to analyse the level of communication skills, vocabulary, and self-confidence of students and how the role of the story telling method in improving the development of communication skills, vocabulary, and self-confidence of K3B students aged 5-6 years. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) on 9 students from K3B PTM 1 Group. CAR will be carried out with a maximum of 3 cycles in this research. The instruments that will be used are rubrics to measure students' communication skills, vocabulary and also self-confidence. The results showed that the storytelling method could improve communication skills, vocabulary mastery and self-confidence of K3B Palembang Harapan School students. The communication skills have a total average value of 42.6 in cycle 1, 55.6 86.1 in cycle 3. Vocabulary mastery increased from 48.2 in cycle 1, 57.4 in cycle 2 and 86.1 in cycle 3. Trust attitude themselves get the average value of the total indicator number 47.2 in cycle 1, 72.2 in cycle 2 and 90.7 in cycle 3. Through the results obtained, it can be concluded that the storytelling method can improve communication skills, vocabulary mastery and self-confidence of K3B Palembang Harapan School students. Kemampuan berkomunikasi, pengetahuan kosakata dan sikap percaya diri merupakan tiga buah kompetensi yang cukup penting untuk dikembangkan khususnya pada saat anak dalam usia dini. Dewasa ini, ketiga hal tersebut sering disoroti khususnya oleh pendidik anak usia dini dikarenakan perkembangan zaman yang cukup maju dalam hal teknologi khususnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis tingkat komunikasi, penguasaan kosakata dan sikap percaya diri siswa serta bagaimana peranan metode storytelling dalam meningkatkan perkembangan komunikasi, penguasaan kosakata dan sikap percaya diri siswa K3B yang berusia 5-6 tahun. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) pada siswa/i K3B Grup PTM 1 sebanyak 9 orang. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan maksimal tiga buah siklus. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah rubrik dalam mengukur kemampuan berkomunikasi, pengetahuan kosakata serta sikap percaya diri siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode storytelling dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berkomunikasi, penguasaan kosakata serta sikap percaya diri siswa K3B Sekolah Palembang Harapan. Pada keterampilan berkomunikasi memiliki nilai rata-rata keseluruhan senilai 42.6 pada siklus satu, 55.6 pada siklus dua dan 86.1 pada siklus 3. Penguasaan kosakata meningkat dari 48.2 pada siklus satu, 57.4 pada siklus dua dan 86.1 pada siklus tiga. Pada sikap percaya diri mendapatkan nilai rata-rata keseluruhan indikator sejumlah 47.2 pada siklus satu, 72.2 pada siklus dua dan 90.7 pada siklus tiga. Melalui hasil yang didapatkan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode storytelling dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berkomunikasi, penguasaan kosakata dan sikap percaya diri siswa K3B Sekolah Palembang Harapan.
