Abstract

Masyarakat luas masih cenderung memandang rendah pada kaum waria, sehingga menimbulkan harga diri dan konsep diri yang rendah pada waria. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara persepsi terhadap stereotip negatif masyarakat dengan konsep diri waria dan harga diri waria. Tipe penelitian yang akan dilakukan ini termasuk dalam tipe penelitian korelasional. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah waria di kota Surabaya sebanyak 53 orang yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Dari 53 orang tersebut, 47,2% bekerja sebagai serabutan, 35,8% bekerja sebagai WTS dan sisanya sebesar 17,0% bekerja di salon. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis korelasi dengan Pearson’s Product Moment. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara stereotip negatif masyarakat dengan konsep diri dengan nilai korelasi sebesar 0,569 yang menunjukkan adanya hubungan cukup kuat antara stereotip negatif masyarakat dengan konsep diri. Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara stereotip negatif masyarakat dengan harga diri. dengan nilai korelasi sebesar 0,811 yang menunjukkan adanya hubungan sangat kuat antara stereotip negatif masyarakat dengan harga diri. Dampak penelitian ini adalah dapat memberikan pandangan yang positif di masyarakat dikarenakan waria tersebut memiliki konsep diri yang baik serta dapat meningkatkan harga diri waria / The wider community still tends to look down on transsexuals, giving rise to self-esteem and low self-concept at the transsexuals. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between perceptions of the negative stereotypes of people with self-concept and self esteem transsexuals. This type of research that will be conducted is included in this type of correlational research. Sample are used in this study was waria in Surabaya as many as 53 people that taken by purposive sampling technique. From as many as 53 samples, a 47.2% working as an odd, 35.8% worked as WTS and the rest equal 17.0% worked in a salon. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The collected data was then analyzed using Pearson's correlation with Product Moment. The results of this study indicate that there is significant correlation between negative stereotypes of people with self-concept with a correlation value of 0.569 indicating a fairly strong correlation between negative stereotypes of people with self-concept. The results also showed that there is a significant relationship between negative stereotypes of people with self-esteem, with correlation value of 0.811 which indicates a very strong correlation between negative stereotypes of people with self-esteem. The impact study will provide a positive outlook in the community because of transsexuals would be to have a good self-concept and self-esteem can improve transvestites
