Abstract

Pendidikan adalah hal utama bagi bangsa manapun di dunia. Perguruan tinggi adalah salah satu institusi penyelenggaraan pendidikan formal agar memiliki SDM yang memadai. Dalam perguruan tinggi dikelompokkan lagi menjadi peminatan atau program studi yang akan diambil sesuai dengan kemampuan. Salah satu program studi yang ada di perguruan tinggi yaitu akuntansi. Mengingat kebutuhan akuntan yang tidak sedikit karena Indonesia telah memasuki pasar ASEAN. Dikhawatirkan dengan masih kurangnya akuntan yang dibutuhkan akan memberikan peluang bagi akuntan negara tetangga untuk menguasai pasar akuntan di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi minat siswa SMA Santo Carolus Surabaya memilih program studi akuntansi. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kusioner yang dibagikan secara langsung kepada siswa SMA Santo Carolus Surabaya. Sampel yang digunakan berjumlah 166 responden. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini metode regresi linier berganda. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa variabel bakat, potensi diri, intelegensi, akreditasi program studi, kesempatan kerja tidak mempengaruhi minat siswa SMA Santo Carolus memilih program studi akuntansi. Variabel biaya pendidikan dan referensi mempengaruhi minat siswa SMA Santo Carolus memilih program studi akuntansi / Education is the main thing for any nation in the world. Higher education is one of the institutions providing formal education in order to have adequate human resources. In higher education, they are grouped into specialization or study programs which will be taken according to their abilities. One of the study programs in higher education is accounting. Given the need for accountants that are not small because Indonesia has entered the ASEAN market. It is feared that the lack of accountants needed will provide opportunities for accountants from neighboring countries to dominate the accountant market in Indonesia. This study aims to determine and analyze the factors that influence the interests of students of SMA St. Carolus Surabaya in choosing an accounting study program. Data were collected using questionnaires which were distributed directly to students of SMA Santo Carolus Surabaya. The sample used amounted to 166 respondents. The method used in this research is multiple linear regression method. The results of this study indicate that the variables of talent, self potential, intelligence, accreditation of study programs, employment opportunities do not affect the interests of high school students of St. Carolus in choosing accounting courses. Variable education costs and references affect the interest of students of St. Carolus High School to choose an accounting study program
