Abstract

PT Medco Power Indonesia (MPI) adalah perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang tenaga listrik. MPI didirikan sejak 2004 dan telah melalui banyak perkembangan. Perkembangan dan keberhasilan MPI tidak terlepas dari kontribusi karyawannya. Selama magang di MPI, peneliti melihat penerapan filosofi perusahaan mengenai standar sikap yang tinggi dan juga bahwa pekerjaan lapangan di bidang tenaga listrik merupakan lingkungan yang memiliki resiko bahaya tinggi. Kedua hal tersebut mengarah ke ide bahwa work engagement pada karyawan MPI akan dan perlu tinggi agar dapat berhasil sedemikian. Work engagement merupakan keterikatan karyawan terhadap pekerjaannya yang mencakup tenaga serta resiliensi, entusiasme serta keterlibatan, dan konsentrasi. Untuk melihat tingkat work engagement pada karyawan, dilakukan penelitian kuantitatif menggunakan adaptasi dari Utrecht Work Engagement Scale - 9 (UWES-9) yang pertama dibuat oleh Schaufeli & Bakker (2004). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat work engagement pada karyawan MPI tergolong tinggi yaitu (M=43,04 dari 54). Untuk masing-masing dimensi rata-rata karyawan MPI merupakan demikian, vigor (M=15,20 dari 18), dedication (M=15,78 dari 18), dan absorption (M=12,05 dari 18). Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa karyawan MPI memang memiliki tingkat work engagement yang tinggi, yang dapat menjadi salah satu alasan keefektifan mereka./PT Medco Power Indonesia (MPI) is a company in the energy sector. MPI was found in 2004 and has gone through ample development. The employees’ contributions have played a major role in MPI’s growth and success. While interning, the writer noticed the application of MPI’s philosophies on standards of mannerisms at work and that working on site in power plants mean working in a high-risk environment. Both points lead to the idea that MPI employees need and does have high work engagement to succeed. Work engagement refers to the relationship of the employee with his or her work which includes their resilience, enthusiasm, and concentration. A quantitative method was used to determine the level of work engagement in the employees, an adaptation of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale – 9 (UWES-9) which was first published by Schaufeli & Bakker (2004). Results show that MPI employees have a high level of work engagement (M=43,04 of 54). Mean for each dimension of work engagement in MPI employees are vigor (M=15,20 of 18), dedication (M=15,78 of 18), and absorption (M=12,05 of 18). Results show that MPI employees do have a high level of work engagement which may be a factor to their effectivity.
