Abstract

Discipline is a manifestation of responsible action that every student should have as responsive disciples in order to reach the goal of Christian education. Therefore in order to be responsive disciples, students should put in practice the discipline through obedience to rules given by the one who has the authority. However, in grade X students at BOPKRI I Senior High School, it was found that students did not practice discipline behavior through obeying the rules applied in the class. Discipline in classroom could be seen through respecting others who is talking, using phone only if permitted by the teacher, and raising hand before speaking. Therefore, the researcher decided to implement reinforcement strategy during the teaching and learning process in the class. This research was conducted from August 10 until October 19, 2018 using Pelton Classroom Action Research model with the steps: issue identification, data collection, action planning, plan activation, and outcome assessment. The implementation of reinforcement was conducted for three times of implementation using mentor feedback, observation form and reflection journal as instruments. After the implementation of reinforcement, there was an improvement occurred in students’ discipline. It could be seen from the average of three indicators in every three implementations which are 99% to 93% and 98%. Therefore the implementation of reinforcement could help students themselves to improve their own behavior. / Disiplin adalah manifestasi dari tindakan bertanggungjawab yang harus dimiliki setiap siswa sebagai murid yang responsif untuk mencapai tujuan pendidikan Kristen. Dengan demikian, untuk menjadi murid yang responsif, siswa harus mempraktikkan disiplin melalui ketaatan terhadap peraturan yang diberikan oleh pihak yang memiliki otoritas. Namun pada pada kenyataannya, siswa kelas X di SMA BOPKRI I tidak mempraktikkan perilaku disiplin dengan mematuhi aturan yang diterapkan di kelas. Perilaku disiplin di kelas dapat ditunjukkan dengan cara menghargai orang lain yang sedang berbicara, menggunakan telepon genggam hanya jika diizinkan, dan mengangkat tangan sebelum berbicara. Oleh karena itu, peneliti memutuskan untuk menerapkan strategi penguatan selama proses belajar mengajar di kelas. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada 10 Agustus hingga 19 Oktober 2018 menggunakan model Penelitian Tindakan Kelas oleh Pelton dengan langkah-langkah sebagai berikut: identifikasi masalah, pengumpulan data, perencanaan tindakan, pelaksanaan rencana dan penilaian hasil. Penerapan strategi penguatan dilakukan sebanyak tiga kali dengan menggunakan umpan balik mentor, lembar observasi dan jurnal refleksi sebagai instrumen. Setelah strategi penguatan diterapkan, terlihat bahwa terjadi peningkatan pada disiplin siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari rata-rata tiga indikator pada masing-masing penerapan yaitu 99% hingga 93% dan 98%. Oleh karena itu penerapan penguatan dapat membantu siswa untuk meningkatkan perilaku disiplin mereka.
