Abstract

Latar Belakang : Asma merupakan penyakit inflamasi kronis pada saluran napas dengan tingkat kekambuhan pada kelompok mahasiswa sebesar 50,1%, yang disebabkan karena paparan asap rokok. Hingga saat ini, belum banyak penelitian mengenai hubungan paparan asap rokok dengan tingkat kontrol asma mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran. Tujuan : Menganalisis hubungan paparan asap rokok dengan tingkat kontrol asma mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran. Metode : Jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan dengan rancangan cross sectional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 38 mahasiwa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan dengan teknik consecutive sampling. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner paparan asap rokok dan Asthma Control Test. Analisis data menggunakan uji Spearman-rank. Hasil : Hasil uji Spearman-rank didapatkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (<0,05) dengan hasil koefesien korelasi 0,543, yang berarti ada hubungan antara paparan asap rokok dengan tingkat kontrol asma mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran dengan korelasi sedang dan searah. Kesimpulan : Terdapat hubungan signifikan antara paparan asap rokok dengan tingkat kontrol asma mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Saran : Diharapkan dapat menghindari paparan asap rokok sehingga dapat meningkatkan kontrol asma dan mencegah kekambuhan asma./ Background : Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways with a recurrence rate of 50.1% in the student group, which is caused by exposure to cigarette smoke. Until now, there have not been many studies regarding the relationship between exposure to cigarette smoke and the level of asthma control of medical school students. Aims : To determine the relationship between exposure to cigarette smoke and the level of asthma control of medical school students. Methods : This type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional design. The research sample amounted to 38 students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Pelita Harapan with consecutive sampling technique. The research instrument used a cigarette smoke exposure questionnaire and Asthma Control Test. Data analysis using Spearman-rank test. Results : The results of the Spearman-rank test obtained a significance value of 0,000 (<0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.543, which means there is a relationship between exposure to cigarette smoke and the level of asthma control of students of the Faculty of Medicine with a moderate and unidirectional correlation. Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between exposure to cigarette smoke and the level of asthma control students of the Faculty of Medicine. Suggestion : It is hoped that it can avoid exposure to cigarette smoke so that it can improve asthma control and prevent asthma recurrence.
