Abstract

International trade is an important aspect in this era of globalization. One of the realizations of international trade is free trade agreement between countries. This research focus on the Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA) in 2015-2021. JAEPA is founded in 2015 and has been implemented to boost economic cooperation between Australia and Japan. The two focus of this research is the realization of JAEPA and how JAEPA will benefit each country's economy. This study applies the Liberal Interdependence theory and concepts of national interest, comparative advantage, and international cooperation. Method used in this research is qualitative methodology through descriptive research approach by using data gathering techniques with books, journals, and secondary source material, and narrative format data analysis. The result of this research shows that JAEPA benefitted the economies of Japan and Australia, carried its mandate, and provided its functions for the countries’ trade while realizing its trade rule chapters. / Perdagangan internasional merupakan aspek penting di era globalisasi ini. Salah satu realisasi perdagangan internasional adalah perjanjian perdagangan bebas antar negara. Penelitian ini fokus pada Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA) tahun 2015-2021. JAEPA didirikan pada tahun 2015 dan telah diimplementasikan untuk meningkatkan kerja sama ekonomi antara Australia dan Jepang. Dua fokus penelitian ini adalah realisasi JAEPA dan bagaimana manfaat JAEPA bagi perekonomian masing-masing negara. Kajian ini menerapkan teori Liberal Interdependence dan konsep kepentingan nasional, keunggulan komparatif, dan kerjasama internasional. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metodologi kualitatif melalui pendekatan penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data dengan buku, jurnal, dan bahan sumber sekunder, serta analisis data format naratif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa JAEPA menguntungkan ekonomi Jepang dan Australia, menjalankan mandatnya, dan memberikan fungsinya untuk perdagangan negara sekaligus mewujudkan bab aturan perdagangannya.
