Abstract

Indonesia memiliki berbagai cerita rakyat yang tetap bertahan dari sebelum terbentuknya Negara Indonesia hingga masa kini. Salah satu contoh nyata dari cerita rakyat yang mampu menjadi media penyampaian moral, nilai-nilai, dan filsafat Jawa adalah cerita Wayang. Namun, dimasa kini, pagelaran wayang memiliki pergerseran fungsi menjadi media hiburan bagi penontonnya. Walaupun begitu, relevansi wayang bagi anak muda sudah mengalami penurunan diakrenakan derasnya arus globalisasi yang terjadi secara luas dan kemudahan untuk mengakses media barat yang lebih populer. Oleh karena isu tersebut, hal ini menjadi landasan dari perancangan konsep visual dengan output concept artbook. Tujuan dari karya tulis ini adalah (1) Untuk merancang untuk menciptakan buku concept art dengan tema fantasi adaptasi dari Mahabarata Jawa (2016) karya N. Riantiarno dan (2) Membuat acuan visual untuk mobile game khususnya desain karakter, desain properti, dan desain latar/environment design untuk game “Bharatayuda”. Metode perancangan yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka, dan analisa data dari sumber buku, jurnal, artikel, dan juga video youtube yang memuat info mengenai topik serupa, serta buku Mahabarata Jawa karya Nino Riantiarno sebagai acuan literatur yang akan diadaptasi. Melalui studi pustaka, maka didapatkan informasi yang berguna sebagai dasasr cerita dan juga informasi visual yang akan membantu sebagai referensi perancangan konsep. Strategi kreatif yang dilakukan pada perancangan adalah mindmapping dan juga keyword dari cerita agar didapatkan keyword visual yang berguna untuk menentukan visual style dan mood. Hasil dari perancangan ini adalah buku konsep art yang memuat rancangan visual berupa desain karakter, property, environment, dan juga desain interface untuk mobile game “Bharatayuda” bertemakan cerita wayang yang didaptasi dari buku Mahabarata Jawa. / Indonesia has various folklore that have survived from before the formation of the Indonesian State to the present. One clear example of folklore that is capable of being a medium for conveying Javanese morals, values, and philosophy is the wayang story. However, nowadays, wayang performances have shifted in function to become a medium of entertainment for the audience. Even so, the relevance of wayang for young people has decreased due to the swift currents of globalization that are happening widely and the ease of accessing more popular western media. Because of these issues, this has become the cornerstone of the visual concept design with the output concept artbook. The purposes of this paper are (1) to design and create a concept art book with a fantasy theme adaptation of Mahabarata Jawa (2016) by N. Riantiarno and (2) to make a visual reference for mobile games, especially character design, property design, and background design or environment design for the game "Bharatayuda". The design method used is literature study and data analysis from books, journals, articles, and YouTube videos that contain information on associated topics, as well as the Javanese Mahabharata by Nino Riantiarno as a reference for the literature to be adapted. Through literature study, information is obtained that is useful as a basis for the story and visual information that will help as a reference for concept design. The creative strategy used in the design is mindmapping and keywords from the story in order to get visual keywords that are useful for determining visual style and mood. The result of this design is a concept art book that contains visual designs in the form of character designs, properties, environments, as well as interface designs for the mobile game "Bharatayuda" with the theme of wayang stories adapted from the Javanese Mahabarata book.
