Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh dimensi demandingness dan responsiveness dalam gaya pengasuhan terhadap neuroticism remaja Tionghoa. Keluarga merupakan pilar utama seorang anak dalam masa pertumbuhannya. Gaya asuh orang tua dapat menjadi penentu bagaimana sang anak berkembang dan bertumbuh. Demandingness yang tinggi dan Responsiveness yang rendah sering dikaitkan dengan gaya pengasuhan yang sering dilakukan oleh orang tua Tionghoa. Gaya asuh ini cenderung menimbulkan efek negatif pada anak-anak salah satunya adalah tingkat kecemasan yang tinggi. Berdasarkan Five Factor Model of Personality, kecemasan merupakan bentuk dari dimensi kepribadian neuroticism. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif non-eksperimental dengan menggunakan Scale of Parenting Style dan The Big Five Inventory. Subjek penelitian ini adalah remaja Tionghoa berusia 13-24 tahun sebanyak 176 orang, yang didapatkan dengan metode purposive sampling. Data dianalisis dengan teknik regresi majemuk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hanya dimensi demandingness yang memberikan pengaruh terhadap neuroticism remaja Tionghoa di Jabodetabek. / This research aims to study the effect of demandingness and responsiveness in authoritarian parenting style towards neuroticism in Chinses adolescents. Family is the main foundation of a child’s development. Parenting styles can determine how the child develops and grows. A high level of demandingness and low level of responsiveness is closely related to the parenting style often practiced by Chinese parents. This parenting style tends to have a negative effect on the children, one of which is high anxiety. Anxiety disorders have become one of the most common mental disorders in Indonesia. According to the Five Factor Model of Personality, anxiety is a form of the neuroticism personality trait. The research method used in this research is non-experimental quantitative by using the Scale of Parenting Style and The Big Five Inventory. Respondents of this research are 176 Chinese adolescents ranging from 13-24 years old which was obtained using purposive sampling. All data were analyzed with multiple regression. Results of the study showed that only demandingness that has an effect towards neuroticism in Chinese adolescents here in Jakarta Metropolitan Area.
