Abstract

Setiap tahunnya penggunaan media sosial di Indonesia terus menigkat. Penggunaan media sosial pun tidak terbatas oleh usia. Sekarang ini, sedang muncul fenomena flexing di sosial media. Dimana banyak individu yang berlomba-lomba untuk mempresentasikan kehidupannya di media sosial. Hal ini mendorong munculnya social comparison pada individu tertentu yang mungkin mempengaruhi life satisfaction individu tersebut. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh dari social comparison terhadap life satisfaction yang ditinjau dari penggunaan media sosial instagram pada emerging adulthood. penelitian ini akan menggunakan desain penelitian kuantitatif korelasional. Partisipan yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini adalah 229 orang yang berada di tahap perkembangan emerging adulthood dan menggunakan media sosial Instagram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari social comparison terhadap life satisfaction pada emerging adulthood ditinjau dari penggunaan media sosial Instagram. / The use of social media in Indonesia continues to increase every years. The use of social media is not limited by age. Currently, the phenomenon of flexing on social media is emerging. Where many individuals are trying to present their life on social media. This phenomenon encourages the emergence of social comparisons in certain individuals that may affect the individual's life satisfaction. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of social comparison on life satisfaction in terms of the use of social media Instagram in emerging adulthood. This research will be conducted using a correlational quantitative research design. The participants involved in this study were 229 people who were in the developmental stage of emerging adulthood and using social media Instagram. The results of this study show that there is a significant effect of social comparison on life satisfaction in emerging adulthood in terms of the use of social media Instagram.
