Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi membawa dampak pada berbagai aspek kehidupan manusia, salah satunya pada dunia entertainment yakni korean waves yang didalamnya memuat genre musik K-Pop. Jumlah penggemar K-Pop laki-laki(fanboy) di Indonesia ditemukan mengalami peningkatan setiap tahunnya. Kegiatan atau aktivitas yang dilakukan oleh fanboy untuk mengekspresikan ketertarikan dan kegemarannya terhadap idola K-Pop cukup beragam. Namun, apabila kegiatan ataupun ekspresi kegemaran ini sudah mengarah pada perilaku disfungsional, maka perilaku ini sudah dianggap sebagai bentuk pemujaan terhadap idolanya atau disebut juga sebagai celebrity worship. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana gambaran dari celebrity worship penggemar K-Pop laki-laki usia dewasa awal secara lebih mendalam dengan melakukan wawancara kepada lima orang partisipan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelima partisipan memenuhi aspek/tahapan dari celebrity worship yakni entertainment social, intense personal, dan sedikit ke arah borderline pathological. Hasil ini dijelaskan lebih lanjut pada empat tema utama yang didapatkan yakni alasan mengidolakan, respons orang sekitar, celebrity worship, dan dampak menjadi fanboy. / The advancement of technology affect many aspects of human being. One of them comes from the entertainment called korean waves, including the K-Pop genre of music. The male K-Pop fans (fanboy) in Indonesia are increasing in number year after year. The expression acts or events held by fanboys to show their interest and passion to K-Pop idol are found in varieties. However, if those acts are leading to dysfunctional behaviour then those acts are considered as celebrity worship. This paper has a purpose to learn more clearly about the portrait of celebrity worship among fanboys in early adulthood by holding interviews with five participants. The result shows that all participants meet the aspects of celebrity worship which are entertainment social, intense personal, and a small leading idea to a borderline pathological. The result are explained more on the four main topics which are reasons of idolize, social response, celebrity worship, and the impact of being fanboy.
