Abstract

Belajar IPA pasti melibatkan kemampuan ranah kognitif. Murid dapat menggunakan ranah kognitifnya pada saat murid mampu mengingat, memahami, menerapkan, menganalisis, dan mengevaluasi materi pembelajaran dengan baik. Hasil belajar IPA yang diharapkan adalah murid mampu menuliskan sifat-sifat benda dan menjelaskan perubahan sifat benda. Fakta yang terjadi adalah hasil belajar yang diperoleh murid kurang dari KKM. Hasil belajar murid mencapai 34,61%. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian adalah 1) mengetahui metode demonstrasi dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif murid; dan 2) untuk menjelaskan langkah-langkah metode demonstrasi dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif murid. Model PTK Pelton terdiri dari lima tahapan yaitu identifikasi masalah, pengumpulan data, perencanaan tindakan, pelaksanaan tindakan, dan hasil luaran. Subjek penelitian adalah murid kelas III SD Kristen Gunungsitoli, berjumlah 26 orang, terdiri dari 12 laki – laki, dan 14 perempuan. Waktu penelitian yaitu tanggal 13 September 2018 – 20 September 2018 pada mata pelajaran IPA. Instrumen yang digunakan antara lain soal tes, observasi mentor, umpan balik mentor, dan jurnal refleksi. Teknik yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan statistika sederhana. Hasil belajar kognitif murid memperoleh hasil sebesar 77% pada pertemuan pertama dengan indikator menuliskan sifat-sifat benda (C1) dan 100% pada pertemuan kedua dengan indikator menjelaskan perubahan sifat benda (C2). Untuk langkah-langkah Metode demonstrasi sudah berlangsung dengan baik pada pembelajaran IPA Kelas III./ Studying science involves cognitive ability. Students are using their cognitive ability when they are able to remember, understand, apply, analyze, and evaluate the learning material well. The expected outcomes from studying science are that the students able to write the properties of matter and to explain the changing properties of matter. The fact that is occurred in the field is that the learning outcomes achieved by the students are below minimum passing score. The students’ learning achievement was 34,61%. Therefore, the purpose of this research is, 1) to know whether the demonstration method can improve students’ cognitive learning outcomes, and 2) to describe the steps of demonstration method in improving students’ cognitive learning outcomes. The Classroom Action Research (CAR) modeled by Pelton consists of five steps, which are issue identification, data collection, action planning, plan activation, and outcome assessment. The subject of this research is students in grade III SD Kristen Gunungsitoli, which totaled of 26 students, consists of 12 boys and 14 girls. This research is conducted on September 13th-20th, 2018 in the Science subject. The instruments used are test, mentor observation, mentor feedback, and reflection journal. Meanwhile, the analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and simple statistics Regarding the students’ cognitive learning outcomes, the students achieved 77% in the first meeting with the indicator writing the properties of matter (C1), and achieved 100% in the second meeting with the indicator explaining the changing properties of matter (C2). The steps in this demonstration method have already done well in the learning of science in grade III.
