Abstract

Salah satu tujuan pembelajaran matematika ialah kemampuan memahami konsep. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan selama pembelajaran matematika di kelas I SD Kristen Labuan Bajo, diperoleh data bahwa murid mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep (C2) yang diajarkan pada topik bangun ruang karena materi masih baru, cara guru mengajar yang tidak terstruktur, dan metode ceramah. Peneliti memutuskan untuk menggunakan alat peraga dalam mengatasi masalah tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan alat peraga dapat meningkatkan kemampuan memahami konsep murid dan mengetahui langkah-langkah penggunaan alat peraga untuk meningkatkan kemampuan memahami konsep. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Robert P. Pelton yang penerapannya dilakukan dua kali. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tanggal 15 Oktober sampai 19 Oktober 2018. Adapun subjek penelitian ini adalah 30 murid kelas I SD Kristen di Labuan Bajo. Data yang digunakan adalah hasil tes murid, RPP, umpan balik mentor, dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan alat peraga dapat meningkatkan kemampuan memahami konsep murid. Pada penerapan I nilai rata rata hasil kerja murid yang mencapai indikator kemampuan memahami konsep (C2) adalah 89 sedangkan pada penerapan II nilai rata-rata hasil kerja murid yang mencapai indikator kemampuan memahami konsep (C2) adalah 96. /One of purpose of leaning mathematics is competency to understand concept. Based on observation result during teaching and learning mathematics in first grade in Christian school Labuan Bajo, as a result students had difficulty in understanding concept being taught in three-dimensional geometry because the material was still new for students, the way teacher teach was not systematics, and lecturing method. The researcher decided to use media to overcome this problem. The purposes of this research were to know whether the use of media can improve students’ conceptual understanding competency and to know the steps using media to improve students’ conceptual understanding competency. The research used in this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with Robert P. Pelton Model by twice implementation. This research was conducted on October 15th until October 19th, 2019. The subjects of the research were thirty students of first grade in Christian school Labuan Bajo. The data used in this research were students test result, lesson plan, mentor feedback, and journal reflection. The result of this result showed that the use of media can improve students’ conceptual understanding competency. Students reached the students’ conceptual understanding competency indicator (C2) both in Plan activation 1 and 2. In Plan Activation 1, the average of students’ test result was 89, meanwhile in Plan Activation 2 was 96.
