Abstract

Salah satu kebijakan pemerintah dalam menerapkan kurikulum 2013 untuk siswa kelas I adalah siswa sudah dapat membaca sampai pada tahap membaca kalimat. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan dan tes yang dilakukan, peneliti menemukan bahwa kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa belum optimal, bahkan ada siswa yang belum mampu mengenal huruf. Hal ini menyebabkan banyak siswa yang kesulitan dalam mengikuti kegiatan belajar, terutama saat siswa harus membaca pada buku pelajaran. Oleh karena itu, peneliti memutuskan untuk menerapkan metode Struktural Analisis Sintesis (SAS). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat apakah metode SAS dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa dan bagaimana langkah-langkah penerapan metode SAS tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah model Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dikembangkan oleh Robert P. Pelton. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 11 Oktober - 25 Oktober 2018 terhadap siswa kelas I di salah satu SD Kristen di Rantepao. PTK ini terdiri dari dua kali pertemuan yang melibatkan 31 siswa. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah RPP, LKS, lembar ceklis mentor, lembar umpan balik, lembar refleksi, dan dokumentasi foto. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode SAS dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa. Penerapan langkah langkah metode SAS yaitu menampilkan gambar sambil bercerita, membaca gambar, proses struktural, proses analisis, dan proses sintesis. /One of the government policies in applying the National Curriculum 2013 for grade one students is the students must be able to read sentences. Based on the observation and test that had been conducted, researcher found out that the pre reading ability of the students were not optimal yet, and even there were some students who were not able to recognize letters. It caused many students to feel the difficulty in following the learning activity, especially when they had to read textbook. Therefore, the researcher decided to apply the Structural Analysis Synthesis (SAS) method. The purpose of this research is to see if the SAS method can improve the pre reading ability of students and how the steps of SAS method are applied. The method that used in this research is Classroom Action Research which is developed by Robert. P. Pelton. The research was conducted on 11 – 25 October 2018 for grade one students in one of Christian primary schools in Rantepao. This Classroom Action Research was consisted of 2 meetings which involving 31 students. The data sources that used are lesson plans, student worksheets, mentor checklist sheets, feedback sheets, reflection journal and documentation. The result of the research shows that the applying of SAS method can improve students’ pre reading ability. The steps of SAS method are displaying pictures while telling stories, analyzing pictures, structural process, analysis process, and synthesis process.
