Abstract

Saat usia prasekolah, siswa seharusnya sudah memiliki keterampilan menulis. Fakta yang terdapat dilapangan menyatakan bahwa keterampilan menulis siswa kelas I SD pada salah satu sekolah Kristen di Kota Kupang masih tergolong rendah. Sebanyak 68% siswa belum mampu menulis rapi. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut maka peneliti menerapkan metode latihan di dalam kelas, di mana siswa melakukan latihan menulis rapi secara berulang. Metode latihan yang diterapkan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa dan mengetahui langkah-langkah penerapannya di dalam kelas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Pelton. Kelima langkah yang terdapat dalam model PTK ini adalah: 1) identifikasi masalah; 2) pengumpulan data; 3) perencanaan tindakan; 4) pelaksanaan tindakan; 5) hasil penilaian. Penelitian dilakukan selama tiga kali penerapan tindakan. Penelitian ini dimulai pada tanggal 28 September - 25 Oktober 2018 dengan subjek penelitian adalah 22 siswa kelas I SD pada salah satu sekolah Kristen di Kota Kupang. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah RPP, umpan balik mentor, lembar observasi checklist, tes, dan jurnal refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa metode latihan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari peningkatan rata-rata pencapaian indikator pada penerapan I adalah 47,20%, penerapan II sebesar 88%, dan penerapan III mencapai 94,75%. Selain itu, langkah-langkah metode latihan yang meningkatkan keterampilan menulis adalah: 1) menjelaskan tujuan pembelajaran; 2) menjelaskan materi; 3) mengadakan latihan; 4) mengadakan kegiatan selingan; dan 5) mengadakan evaluasi. / Writing skills should be one of language skills own by children since in the early childhood. In fact, researcher found that the writing skills of grade 1 students at one of Christian schools in Kupang categorized as low. Approximately, there were 68% of the total students who could not write neatly. The implementation of drill method is aimed to improve students writing skill and to know the steps of implementation in the classroom. The method used in this research was Classroom Action Research modeled by Pelton. It has five steps which are: 1) issue identification; 2) data collection; 3) action planning; 4) plan activation; 5) outcome assessment. The research was conducted within three cycles. It was begin from September 28, to October 25, 2018. The subject of this research was 22 grade 1 students from one of Christian schools in Kupang. The resource data was from lesson plan, mentor’s feedback and checklist observation, test and reflection journal. The result of this implementation shows that drill method improves grade 1 students’ writing skills. The improvement can be seen from the percentage of indicator of writing skills from each implementation. The average of indicator from first implementation was 47,20%, from second implementation was 88% and from third implementation was 94,75%. Besides, the steps of drill method used by researcher was (1) explained lesson objective (2) explained lesson material (3) conducted drilling (4) gave another activity as a break (5) gave an evaluation.
