Abstract

Based on results of issue identification that seen from various research sources, it was found that students had low discipline. During the learning process, some students against the class rules, talk with friends when teacher explans, speaks disrespectfully, and interferes with friends while studying. Because of that, the researcher used positive reinforcement and logical consequences to increase students discipline. The purpose of this research was to know whether the use of positive reinforment and logical consequences could increase students discipline. The research method was Classroom Action Research (CAR) by Pelton model. The research was conducted in two applications, it was done from October 25, 2018 to November 1, 2018 in one of the schools in Kupang. The subject of the research were the students in grade V that had 23 students in class. The researcher used students questionnaire, mentor’s observation sheet, feed back mentor and journal reflection to collect data. The data was analyzed using descriptive qualitative. The result of the research showed that giving positive reinforcement and logical consequences could increase students discipline. Giving positive reinforcement and logical consequences could increase students discipline with this following steps; 1) students were reminded again about the class agreement that had been made and consequences that they would get for their action, 2) during the learning process teacher gave positive reinforcement consistently, 3) during the learning process teacher gave logical consequences consistently.
