Abstract

Along its progression, this disease may develop more severe forms, which is Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS). Uncertainty during dengue infection’s disease progression is considered a challenge when encountering this disease. Researchers have found an association between NS1 protein alevels and the development to severe forms of dengue infection, but research regarding this topic are still few. So, the purpose of the research is to find an association between the result of NS1 antigen detection and the severity of dengue. This study is using unpaired categorical comparative analysis and the analysis of data uses Microsoft Excel 2016 and SPSS 22 in the form of Chi Square. Result shows that odds ratio (OR) of subjects with NS1 positivity is 5,127 (95% CI= 1.588 – 16.675) (p value= 0.012), which indicates that the odds of dengue infected subjects with NS1 positivity developing into severe dengue is 5,127 greater compared to subjects with NS1 negativity. In conclusion, there is an association between NS1 antigen result with severity of dengue infection. Reference: 31 (2010-2022)
