Abstract

Salah satu tujuan pembelajaran matematika pada jenjang pendidikan adalah siswa mampu memahami konsep matematika. Pemahaman konsep sangat penting untuk dicapai oleh siswa karena pemahaman konsep sangat dibutuhkan dalam memecahkan masalah yang ditemukan dalam kehidupan. Kenyataan yang ditemukan peneliti selama proses pembelajaran adalah terdapat 20 dari 22 siswa yang tidak memahami konsep matematika. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menerapkan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Team Achievement Division sebagai upaya meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Team Achievement Division dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis dan bagaimana penerapannya dalam upaya meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan model penelitian tindakan kelas menurut Pelton. Subjek penelitian adalah kelas XI MIPA SMA BOPKRI 1 Yogayakarta yang berjumlah 22 siswa. Penelitian dilaksanakan tanggal 29 Agustus – 5 Oktober 2018. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran, lembar observasi, umpan balik mentor, jurnal refleksi, dan hasil tes tertulis siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep matematis siswa meningkat jika dibandingkan dengan sebelum penerapan Student Team Achievement Division. Hasil tes tertulis menunjukkan peningkatan sebesar 41% pada indikator menyatakan ulang konsep, 46% pada indikator memberi contoh dan kontra contoh dari konsep, 23% pada indikator menerapkan konsep secara algoritma, dan 32% pada indikator mengaitkan konsep secara internal. Penerapan STAD dalam upaya meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis terdiri atas tujuh langkah, yaitu: 1) pendahuluan yang meliputi penyampaian motivasi, tujuan pembelajaran, dan pembentukan kelompok heterogen, 2) presentasi materi, 3) kegiatan tim, 4) penegasan, 5) kuis individual, 6) skor kemajuan individal, dan 7) penghargaan tim./ Understanding mathematics concept is one of the purposes in learning mathematics. Conceptual understanding is very important to solve problem in real life context. It turns out that during the learning process there were 20 out of 22 students did not understand mathematical concept. Because of this, the researcher implemented cooperative learning using Student Team Achievement Division type as the means to improve students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. The research purposes are to know whether the implementation of Student Team Achievement Division could improve students’ mathematical conceptual understanding and how is the implementation in improving students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. The research was conducted in a classroom action research, designed by Pelton. The subjects of this research were 22 Grade XI MIPA students of SMA BOPKRI 1 Yogyakarta. The research was conducted from August 29, 2018 – October 5, 2018. Researcher used lesson plans, observation report, mentor’s feedbacks, reflection journals, and students’ test results as the data sources. The result of this research showed that students’ mathematics conceptual understanding were improved after the Student Team Achievement Division was implemented. The test result showed 41% improvement in defining the concepts, 46% improvement in giving examples and counter examples, 23% improvement in applying concept algorithmically, and 32% improvement in relating mathematical concepts. The implementation of Student Team Achievement Division in improving students’ mathematical conceptual understanding consist of seven stepts, which are: 1) introduction that include delivery of motivation, lesson objectives, and heterogeneous group division, 2) presentation of material, 3) team activity, 4) affirmation, 5) individual quiz, 6) individual improvement score, 7) team recognition.
