Abstract
One of the most interesting forms of a vocal ensemble is the contemporary acapella groups, groups that are known for mimicking sounds of instruments with their voices as an accompaniment to the lead singer. Because of this acapella groups require an arrangement that is more complex while displaying a performance that is both aesthetic and put together. One way an acapella group can display this teamwork is through the vocal blend. The vocal blend is tool that helps ensembles to fuse individual voices together into sounding like one voice. However, achieving the vocal blend is not without its challenges. The challenges that vocal ensembles face when trying to blend their voices inspires this research. This research aims to explore and describe the topics of what factors can affect the vocal blend quality in an acapella group setting, especially in VOXCOM UPH using the qualitative methodology of the descriptive case study. Through this research it is found that factors relating to the vocal blend quality comes from aspects such as technique, interpretation, and factors outside of those categories.
