Abstract

Berdasarkan grafik komposisi sumber sampah, sampah rumah tangga menjadi penyumbang terbesar sampah di Indonesia. Salah satu sampah rumah tangga berbahan kertas / karton yang sering digunakan adalah pada kemasan sabun, pasta gigi, sabun cuci wajah maupun skincare yang kerap digunakan oleh pria maupun wanita setiap harinya. Dari industri kertas tersebut memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap lingkungan. Berdasarkan penelitian mengenai kesadaran orang yang bersedia untuk membeli produk eco-friendly, seiring berjalannya waktu banyak orang yang sudah mulai sadar untuk membeli produk-produk sustainable untuk membantu untuk menjaga bumi. Beberapa perusahaan juga sudah mulai menerapkan sustainability pada produknya. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penulis memiliki ketertarikan untuk melakukan eksplorasi pembuatan kemasan menggunakan bahan-bahan ramah lingkungan, agar bisa mengubah sampah organik menjadi material baru yang bisa berguna untuk sehari-hari, serta bisa memecahkan banyak masalah yang ada pada saat ini, khususnya masalah alam yang terjadi saat ini akibat sampah yang terlalu menumpuk. Salah satu limbah organik yang memiliki potensi adalah sekam padi. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dimana dilakukan pengumpulan data-data mengenai sekam padi dan yang cara pengolahannya didapatkan dari referensi penelitian sebelumnya. Dilanjutkan dengan eksplorasi berdasarkan data yang sudah terkumpul. Dalam proses eksplorasi ini, penulis memiliki tujuan utama untuk mengolah limbah sekam padi untuk diubah menjadi kemasan produk alat mandi dan kebersihan yang ramah lingkungan. Salah satu eksplorasi yang dilakukan adalah eksplorasi pembuatan pulp/bubur kertas dari sekam padi dan pelepah pisang yang nantinya akan dibentuk sesuai dengan ukuran kemasan yang diinginkan. Dalam eksplorasi ini ditambahkan juga berapa indikator pembeda, seperti penggunaan pati yang beragam sebagai bahan tambahan agar membuat pulp sempurna. Berdasarkan hasil eksplorasi didapatkan formulasi yang cocok adalah sekam padi sebannyak 200-gram, air 3000 ml, NaOH 10% 450 ml, 30-gram pelepah pisang serta 300-gram tepung kanji yang dilarutkan dengan air 50ml. / Based on the graph of the composition of waste sources, household waste is the largest contributor to waste in Indonesia. One of the household wastes made from paper / cardboard that is often used is in the packaging of soap, toothpaste, facial soap, and skincare which is often used by men and women every day. The paper industry has a significant impact on the environment. Based on research on the awareness of people who are willing to buy eco-friendly products, over time many people have begun to be aware of buying sustainable products to help protect the earth. Some companies have also begun to implement sustainability in their products. Based on this, the author has an interest in exploring packaging using environmentally friendly materials, to turn organic waste into new materials that can be useful for everyday life, and can solve many problems that exist today, especially natural problems that occur today due to waste that is too piled up. One of the organic wastes that has potential is rice husks. In this study, qualitative research methods were used where data were collected about rice husks and the processing method was obtained from previous research references. Continued with exploration based on the data that has been collected. In this exploration process, the author has the main goal to process rice husk waste to be converted into environmentally friendly toiletries and hygiene product packaging. One of the explorations carried out is the exploration of making pulp / paper pulp from rice husks and banana fronds which will later be formed according to the desired packaging size. In this exploration, also added how many distinguishing indicators, such as the use of various starches as additives to make perfect pulp. Based on the results of exploration, suitable formulations were 200 grams of rice husks, 3000 ml water, 10% NaOH 450 ml, 30 grams of banana fronds and 300 grams of starch dissolved with 50ml water.
