Abstract

Masyarakat religius umumnya menempatkan aspek religi sebagai bagian penting dalam hidupnya. Aspek religius tidak hanya bisa dilihat dari pengetahuan terhadap agamanya, tetapi juga melalui perwujudan moral dan sosial, seperti dari ibadah yang dilakukan. Suatu aktivitas religius cenderung berpusat pada bangunan yang dirancang secara spesifik untuk kegiatan keagamaan. Namun, dalam perkembangannya, desain dari ruang ibadah, seperti gereja, cenderung lebih pragmatis dan berfokus pada fungsionalitas dalam arti merasa cukup dengan terpenuhinya fungsi dasar, seperti adanya ruang untuk beraktivitas. Pada nyatanya, suatu desain ruang ibadah tidak bisa hanya berbicara mengenai elemen fungsi, tetapi juga membahas pengalaman ruang yang mendukung aktivitas religius itu sendiri. Pengalaman ruang ini didapatkan melalui pengaruh dari estetika dan seni dalam bangunan. Desain ruangan akan memengaruhi emosi dan indra seseorang dalam melakukan aktivitas. Dalam hal ini, seni yang dihasilkan tidaklah lepas dari pengaruh faktor fisik bangunan dan non-fisik, seperti keadaan sosial, pola aktivitas dan kebudayaan jemaat. Dengan pendekatan estetika simbolik, gereja dirancang untuk dapat menciptakan bangunan gereja yang spesifik untuk aktivitas dan jemaat. Secara fisik bangunan, gereja dirancang untuk dapat merepresentasikan keunikan identitas gereja dan komunitas. Gereja juga dirancang untuk dapat meresponi pola aktivitas dan kebutuhan khusus gereja yang dituju. Disisi lain, perancangan gereja bertujuan untuk memberikan kelebihan pengalaman religius ibadah secara fisik yang tidak dapat dirasakan ketika mengikuti secara online. / Religious people generally place religious aspects as an essential part of their lives. Religious aspects can not only be seen from the knowledge of their religion but also through moral and social manifestations, such as from the worship performed. A religious activity tends to be centered on a building that is specifically designed for religious activities. However, in its development, the design of worship spaces, such as churches, tends to be more pragmatic and focuses on functionality in the sense that it is enough to fulfill basic functions, such as the existence of space for activities. A worship space design cannot only talk about functional elements but also discuss the experience of space that supports the religious activity itself. This space experience is obtained through the influence of aesthetics and art in the building. The design of the room will affect a person's emotions and senses in doing activities. In this case, the art produced cannot be separated from the influence of physical and non-physical building factors, such as social conditions, activity patterns, and congregation culture. With a symbolic aesthetic approach, the church is designed to be able to create church buildings that are specific to activities and congregations. In the physical building, the church is designed to be able to represent the unique identity of the church and community. The church is also designed to be able to respond to the activity patterns and special needs of the intended church. On the other hand, the design of the church aims to provide the advantages of a physical religious worship experience that cannot be felt when following online.
