Abstract

Gangguan Kognitif Ringan (Mild Cognitive Impairments/MCI) adalah masalah yang mempengaruhi kemampuan fungsi kognitif yang muncul dalam proses penuaan. MCI menyebabkan masalah dalam ingatan, pemikiran dan pengambilan keputusan yang juga dapat mempengaruhi keterampilan motorik dan kesadaran spasial serta persepsi. Bagi lansia, keterbatasan dalam fungsi-fungsi ini dapat memperburuk kemampuan seseorang untuk melakukan aktivitas sehari-hari. Dengan melakukan aktivitas-aktivitas yang menggunakan fungsi kognitif tersebut, tingkat penurunan dapat direndahkan ataupun dihentikan. Selain dari itu memberikan lansia pengalaman multisensori juga sudah terlihat untuk meningkatkan kondisi lansia dengan MCI. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan ruang multisensori yang berdasarkan aspek-aspek arsitektur multisensori seperti pemanfaatan pencahayaan, kontras dan warna, elemen-elemen air dan tanaman, dan suara untuk menghasilkan pengalaman multisensori yang baik melalui VR sebagai lingkungan untuk kegiatan-kegiatan kognitif yang dapat melatih kemampuan kognitif lansia dengan MCI. Hubungan asosiasi antara indra juga dimanfaatkan untuk menghasilkan persepsi dari pengalaman indra yang kurang dapat disampaikan secara digital seperti rasa dan sentuhan. Penelitian ini menggunakan beberapa metode, yang pertama merupakan studi literatur untuk mengetahui tentang aspek-aspek arsitektur multisensori dan cara mengaplikasikannya dalam ruang multisensori yang baik. Selain dari itu, pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner pada dua kelompok lansia untuk mengetahui kondisi secara umum, dan aktivitas-aktivitas yang dilakukannya. Ini kemudian digunakan dalam penghasilan ruang multisensori virtual. Dalam proses eksperimentasi desain, program Unity yang merupakan game engine digunakan untuk menghasilkan rung multisensori tersebut. Yang dihasilkan adalah area-area yang dibagikan menurut pengalaman sensori yang ingin dihasilkan. / Mild Cognitive Impairments (MCI) are problems affecting cognitive abilities that arise in the aging process. MCI causes problems in areas such as memory, thinking and decision-making which can also affect motor skills, spatial awareness, and perception. For the elderly, limitations in these functions can worsen one's ability to perform daily activities. By engaging in activities that utilise these cognitive functions, the rate of decline can be minimised or halted. Providing the elderly with multisensory experiences has also been shown to improve the condition of people with MCI. This research aims to produce a multisensory space based on aspects of multisensory architecture such as the use of lighting, contrast and colour, water and plant elements, and sound to produce a good multisensory experience through VR as an environment for cognitive activities that can train the cognitive abilities of the elderly with MCI. Associations between the senses are also utilised to produce perceptions of sensory experiences that usually cannot be conveyed digitally such as taste and touch. This research uses several methods, the first is a literature study to find out about the aspects of multisensory architecture and how to apply them in a good multisensory space. Apart from that, data collection was done through questionnaires on two groups of elderly people to find out their general conditions, and the activities they do. These were then used in the creating of the virtual multisensory space. In the process of design experimentation, Unity, a game engine, was used in creating the multisensory space. What was created were areas that were divided according to the sensory experience to be generated.
