Abstract

Belajar merupakan proses aktif dari pembelajar dalam membangun pengetahuannya, bukan proses pasif yang hanya menerima ceramah guru tentang pengetahuan. Siswa dituntut aktif baik dari segi fisik maupun psikis untuk mencapai tujuan belajar yang diharapkan. Berdasarkan observasi di kelas VIII, peneliti menemukan masalah bahwa siswa-siswa pasif selama pembelajaran misalnya dalam mengemukakan ide atau pendapat, bertanya dan menjawab pertanyaan guru, serta mengerjakan soal yang diberikan oleh guru. Maka, peneliti memutuskan untuk menerapkan metode TGT dalam mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Diharapkan melalui penerapan metode ini, tujuan peneliti dapat tercapai, yaitu meningkatkan keaktifan siswa melalui penerapan metode TGT dan mengetahui langkah-langkah penerapan metode TGT dalam peningkatan keaktifan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) pada tanggal 28 dan 29 Oktober 2015 dengan subjek 22 siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumen lembar observasi keaktifan siswa, lembar observasi penerapan TGT, jurnal refleksi peneliti, lembar angket siswa, dan umpan balik mentor. Berdasarkan analisis data dari berbagai instrumen tersebut, maka keaktifan siswa meningkat dengan diterapkannya metode TGT dan selama penerapansetiap tahapan TGT yang terdiri dari tahap penyajian kelas, tahap belajar dalam kelompok, tahap permainan turnamen, dan tahap penghargaan kelompok dapat meningkatkan keaktifan siswa pada pelajaran Biologi. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan meningkatnya rata-rata keaktifan siswa dalam kelas. / Learning is an active process from student to build their knowledge, not a passive process that only accept teacher’s lecturing about knowledge. Student is required to be active either in physical or psychological side to achieve the expected learning goal. Based on the observation in grade VIII, researcher found the problem that the students were passive during teaching process, for example in proposing the idea or opinion, asking and answering teacher’s question, and also doing question given by the teacher. Thus, researcher decided to implement TGT method in order to solve that problem. Hopefully, through the implementation of this method, researcher’s goal could be achieved, that is to increase student’s activeness and to know the steps of implementation of TGT method in increasing student’s activeness. This research used Class Action Research method at October 28 and 29, 2015 with 22 students as the subject. Data collection is being done by using student’s activeness observation sheet instrument, TGT’s implementation observation sheet, researcher’s reflection journal, student’s questionnaire sheet, and mentor’s feedback. Based on data analysis from those instruments, so the student’s activeness is increasing by implementing TGT method and at each implementation of TGT phase that consisted of preparation class phase, learning in study group phase, gams tournaments phase, and team recognition phase could increase student’s activeness in learning Biology. It is shown by the increasing of the average of student’s activeness in class.
