Abstract

Guru yang melakukan kegiatan proses belajar mengajar sesuai dengan gaya belajar siswa tentu akan membuat siswa mudah memahami isi materi pelajaran. Siswa yang memahami materi pelajaran dengan baik akan memperoleh prestasi belajar yang baik pula. Berbeda dengan hasil observasi yang dilakukan di kelas VIII memperlihatkan bahwa guru hanya menggunakan metode ceramah selama melakukan proses kegiatan belajar mengajar. Setelah melakukan studi dokumentasi ternyata ditemukan bahwa nilai dari empat test unit yang dilakukan sebagian besar siswa memiliki prestasi belajar yang baik bahkan tinggi. Permasalahan ini membuat peneliti ingin melihat apakah ada hubungan gaya belajar dan prestasi belajar siswa. Diharapkan melalui penelitian ini, tujuan peneliti dapat tercapai yaitu mengetahui hubungan gaya belajar dan prestasi belajar siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengetahui hubungan gaya belajar dan prestasi belajar siswa kelas VIII adalah kuesioner gaya belajar siswa dan tes uraian terbatas yang disebarkan kepada 48 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dianalisis menggunakan deskriptif statistik, sedangkan pengujian hipotesis dianalisis menggunakan rumus korelasi Rank Spearmen. Data dari seluruh instrumen memberikan kesimpulan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara gaya belajar dan prestasi belajar siswa kelas VIII. Hal ini terbukti dari uji hipotesis yang menghasilkan ρs < ρ hitung yaitu -0,26 < 0,24. / Teachers who teach based the student's learning style during the learning process will certainly make students easily understand the content of the subject matter. Students who understand the content of the subject matter well certainly will get good achievement. Observations was made in grade VIII showed that teachers only use the lecture method during the learning process. After doing a documentary study found that the mark of the test unit totaled four times, most students still have a good achievement and almost high. These problems make the researcher wanted to see whether there is a relationship between learning styles and student achievement. Hopefully, through this study, the researcher goal’s can be achieved that is to know the relationship between learning styles and student achievement. The instrumen used to determine the relationship between learning styles and student achievement is questionnaire about learning styles and limited test description that distributed to 48 students were selected using purposive sampling technique. The instrumens used were analyzed using descriptive statistics, whereas hypothesis testing were analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation formula. Data from all instrumens show that there is no relationship between learning styles and student achievement in grade VIII. It is evident from testing the hypothesis that result ρs < ρ that is -0.26 < 0.24.
