Abstract

Bali has various features which were initially promoted by the Dutch colonial government as a tourist spot in the 1920s and 1930s when the world tourism sector was just starting to become golden. Of the many islands in the world, Bali is an island that has succeeded in becoming a tourist spot frequented by local and foreign tourists. The reason Bali has the image of a tourist destination is seen from the views of tourists about Bali with its rich culture and traditions, the friendly nature of local residents, beautiful scenery, tropical climate, culinary centers and others. Most of the population of Bali adheres to Hinduism, therefore life in Bali is based on Hindu religious teachings due to the thick religious influences that will affect almost every element in the life of the Balinese people. Vernacular is the right approach to use in the design process for hotel interiors in Bali. The concept of Tri Hita Karana, namely the path to the perfection of life, comes from the belief system of the Hindu religion which is one of the vernacular characteristics that is appropriately used to achieve the goals of design results in accordance with the culture of the local community. The purpose of the design is to present the character of Balinese culture which at the beginning of development had problems, namely the lack of deeper research regarding the local background. The design of the hotel design is carried out in order to be able to survive and compete with other hotels. A hotel is a place to stay that can show its character through the vision and mission to be achieved. So, tourist visitors who come with the aim of having a vacation can feel comfortable using the facilities provided by tourist hotels and get to know and appreciate Balinese culture.
