Abstract

The Indonesian Tiberias Church has been established since 1990, which is still growing today. In this design, it is a church at the BSD Plaza branch which has been around for about 30 years with the aim of covering congregations in the Tangerang area and its surroundings. BSD Plaza Mall is the first commercial building built in the Serpong area with facilities such as shopping centers, culinary tours, and cinemas. In recent years there has been an outbreak of the Covid 19 disease which has forced people to adapt to the environment with restrictions according to government policy, where the church has eliminated face-to-face worship. However, as time has gone on, the church is currently holding face-to- face worship again with provisions in accordance with the post-pandemic period. During the data collection process, problems arose, such as the dome of a closed building which has the potential to cause sick building syndrome for a long time, seeing that there are no openings in the church area so that it can affect the health of users when carrying out indoor activities. In addition, the authors also see that there is a placement of space that does not yet support optimal circulation of users and workers and design representations that do not yet reflect the identity of the church. Knowing this, this research aims to serve as a means to design interiors that adapt to pandemic conditions by using a green design approach, creating religious places that represent identity and improving the quality of circulation in supporting activities within the church. The method used in the design is descriptive research through field studies, interviews, and literature studies. The results of the research conducted by the authors show that there is a significant relationship that the application of the green design concept can improve the quality and health of users when carrying out indoor activities. Based on the results of the analysis, seeing the location of the church which is located in a commercial building is one of the challenges for achieving a design strategy with a green design approach, with the need for a location that allows for non-structural changes on a large scale so that the room gets artificial lighting and ventilation that can improve the health of the user
