Abstract

Mie Gacoan merupakan restoran yang menyediakan produk mie pedas sebagai menu utamanya. Setelah melakukan observasi visual pada identitas visual Mie Gacoan, terlihat adanya masalah pada visualnya yang tidak dapat mencerminkan mereknya dengan akurat dan penerapan identitas visualnya yang tidak koheren. Tahapan yang akan dieksekusi berdasar pada metodologi Alina Wheeler dari buku Designing Brand Identity. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk menjadi pondasi dalam perancangan ulang identitas visual Mie Gacoan, menggunakan data yang dikumpulkan melalui studi literatur, observasi, dan wawancara, yang kemudian diolah dan dianalisis sebagai landasan pembuatan identitas visualnya. Perancangan dilakukan menggunakan mindmap, morphological matrix, roughs, comprehensives, dll, yang akan dilanjutkan dengan pembuatan identitas visual dan sistemnya. Penerapan desain pun dibuat dalam bentuk mockup pada berbagai medium untuk menunjukkan pengaplikasiannya yang benar. Pada tahap akhir, graphic standards manual telah dibuat, namun tidak dimasukkan dalam makalah ini. Melalui proses tersebut, perancangan identitas visual dan sistem penerapan desain yang tepat untuk Mie Gacoan dapat tercapai. / Mie Gacoan is a restaurant that serves spicy noodles as its main menu. After doing a visual observation of Mie Gacoan’s visual identity, some problems were found in their visuals which is they are unable to reflect their brand accurately and their incorehency in design applications. The steps taken will be executed using Alina Wheeler’s methodology, from her book Designing Brand Identity. This thesis aims to be the foundation for redesigning Mie Gacoan’s visual identity, using data collected from research, observation and interview, which is then processed and analyzed as a starting point in creating its visual identity. The redesigning process uses mindmap, morphological matrix, roughs, comprehensives, etc., which is then continued with creating its visual identity and sistem. Design applications were made in a form of mokcups in various mediums to show the proper way of applying the elements. In the final stage, the graphic standards manual was made, though it wasn’t attached in this thesis. With all these steps, creating a proper visual identity and design application system for Mie Gacoan was achieved.
