Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil observasi di kelas VII pada Sekolah GA, peneliti menemukan bahwa siswa kurang memahami konsep dari materi yang dipelajari. Kurangnya pemahaman konsep siswa dapat dilihat dari nilai ulangan yang diperoleh siswa masih belum memenuhi KKM (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal). Maka, peneliti menggunakan metode Course Review Horay (CRH) untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep Kimia siswa. Diharapkan dengan melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran menggunakan metode ini, siswa dapat mengingat, dan memahami materi yang telah disampaikan oleh peneliti. Penelitian ini menggunakan model Penelitian Tindakan Kelas Kemmis dan Taggart. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII dengan jumlah 17 siswa di sebuah sekolah Kristen di Lampung. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Data yang dikumpulkan melalui instrumen penelitian berupa observasi, angket, dan post test. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa penerapan metode Course Review Horay (CRH) dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep Kimia siswa kelas VII pada pelajaran IPA Terpadu dengan mempertimbangkan tingkat kesukaran soal, mencetak kotak horay, dan potongan soal. Hasil penelitian menunjukan tingkat pemahaman konsep siswa adalah 58,6 pada siklus pertama, 72,6 siklus pada kedua, dan 72,2 siklus pada ketiga. Hal ini terlihat dari terpenuhinya indikator pemahaman konsep, yaitu siswa memiliki kemampuan untuk mengingat konsep, siswa dapat menjelaskan suatu info dengan kata-katanya sendiri, dan siswa mampu membedakan konsep. / Based on the observation that has been done in grade VII at GA school, the researcher found that the students had a difficulty in understanding the concept of material that has been taught. It could be seen from the student‟s test score that has not met the standard of KKM. Therefore, the researcher used Course Review Horay (CRH) method to improve student‟s chemistry conceptual understanding. It is expected that the students can remember and understand the lesson that has been taught by the researcher. This research used Kemmis and Taggart Classroom Action Research Model. The subject of the research was students in Grade VII with 18 number of students at a Christian School in Lampung. This research was conducted in three cycles. The data was collected by using observation, feedback, questionnaire, and post-test instruments. The result indicated that the implementation of Course Review Horay (CRH) method could improve grade VII student‟s conceptual understanding in chemistry by considering the difficulty level of questions, print horay box, and piece of questions. The result shows that student‟s conceptual understanding is 58,6 at the first cycle, 72,6 at the second cycle, and 72,2 at the third cycle. It has been reached the indicator of student‟s conceptual understanding which are students have the ability to recall concepts, students can explain the information with their own words, and students are able to differentiate the concept.
