Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui tingkat kepedulian siswa pada lingkungan setelah menggunakan model pembelajaran STM dan model pembelajaran tematik pada mata pelajaran PLH dan (2) mengetahui perbedaan tingkat kepedulian siswa terhadap lingkungan pada penerapan model pembelajaran STM dibandingkan model pembelajaran tematik pada mata pelajaran PLH. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah semua siswa kelas 10 di Sekolah X di Tangerang. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari angket yang telah diuji coba dan diuji validitas serta reliabilitasnya, didukung dengan refleksi peneliti, wawancara narasumber dan observasi kegiatan guru. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji Mann-Whitney, uji n-gain, dan uji lanjutan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) tingkat kepedulian siswa pada lingkungan sebelum penerapan model pembelajaran STM dan penerapan model pembelajaran tematik pada mata pelajaran PLH adalah sama (Asymp. Sig. 0,807>0,05), (2) tingkat kepedulian siswa pada lingkungan setelah penerapan model pembelajaran STM dan model pembelajaran tematik adalah berbeda (Asymp. Sig. 0,037<0,05), (3) rata-rata n-gain kelas A sebesar 0,72 kategori tinggi dan pada kelas B sebesar 0,61 kategori sedang, (4) uji lanjutan n-gain menunjukkan rata-rata tingkat kepedulian siswa pada lingkungan setelah penerapan model pembelajaran STM dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran tematik pada mata pelajaran PLH adalah tidak berbeda secara signifikan atau sama (Asymp. Sig. 0,940>0,05). Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran STM dan model pembelajaran tematik memberikan hasil yang tidak berbeda signifikan. / The objectives of this research are (1) to ascertain the level of students’ environmental awareness by using Science, Technology and Society (STS) approach and thematic approach in Environment Education’s subject (2) to ascertain the difference level of students’ environmental awareness by using STS approach rather than thematic approach in Environment Education’s subject. This research is a quantitative quasi experiment with non-equivalent control group design. The subject of this research is the entire students grade X at “X” Senior High School in Tangerang. The data of this research are obtained with tested and validated questionnaire including the reliability. There is also reflection of researcher, a brief interview between interviewees, and teacher’s observation activity. This research use normality, homogeneity, Mann-Whitney, n-gain, and advanced test to analyze the data. The results show that (1) the level students’ environmental awareness before using STS approach and thematic approach in Environment Education subject are same (Asymp. Sig. 0,807>0,05). (2) The level of students’ environmental awareness after using STS approach and thematic approach in Environment Education subject are different (Asymp. Sig. 0,037<0,05). (3) n-gain’s average in class A shows about 0,72 high category and in class B about 0,61 normal category. (4) Advanced test n-gain shows average of student’s environmental awareness after using STS approach rather than using thematic approach in Environment Education subject there is no significant changes or same (Asymp. Sig. 0,940>0,05). From the result can be conclude that STS approach and thematic approach give no significant changes result.
