Abstract

The age of junior high school students is a period of puberty that causes many conflicts and problems in themselves that require guidance and help from more mature people. This issue is also happening in XYZ Tomohon Junior High School students. One of the desires of XYZ Junior High School as stated in the school profile is to have strong pastoral counseling. However, this will not be achieved if only one counselor plays a role. Homeroom teachers have a great opportunity in realizing strong pastoral counseling. Therefore, this study will explore how shepherd leadership from homeroom teachers in pastoral counseling to students, what challenges are faced, and how homeroom teachers face various challenges encountered in carrying out the role of shepherd leader in pastoral counseling to students. This research will use a qualitative method with a case study design. The results found that shepherd leadership is a driving factor in the effectiveness of pastoral counseling to students at XYZ Tomohon Junior High School. The inhibiting factors which are the homeroom teachers' challenges consist of internal and external challenges. Homeroom teachers face challenges by strengthening cooperation and becoming reflective learners. The final finding is that spiritual growth is the core factor of shepherd leadership in pastoral counseling. / Usia siswa SMP merupakan masa pubertas yang menimbulkan banyak konflik dan masalah dalam diri mereka yang membutuhkan bimbingan dan bantuan dari orang yang lebih dewasa. Hal ini juga terjadi pada siswa SMP XYZ Tomohon. Salah satu kerinduan SMP XYZ Tomohon yang tertuang dalam profil sekolah adalah memiliki pastoral konseling yang kuat. Namun, hal ini tidak akan tercapai jika hanya satu konselor yang berperan. Wali Kelas memiliki peluang besar dalam mewujudkan pastoral konseling yang kuat. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini akan mengeksplorasi bagaimana kepemimpinan gembala dari Wali Kelas dalam pastoral konseling kepada siswa, tantangan apa saja yang dihadapi, dan bagaimana Wali Kelas menghadapi berbagai tantangan yang dihadapi dalam menjalankan peran pemimpin gembala dalam pastoral konseling kepada siswa. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa kepemimpinan gembala menjadi faktor penggerak efektivitas pastoral konseling kepada siswa di SMP XYZ Tomohon. Faktor penghambat yang menjadi tantangan Wali Kelas terdiri dari tantangan internal dan eksternal. Wali Kelas menghadapi tantangan dengan memperkuat kerja sama dan menjadi pembelajar yang reflektif. Temuan terakhir penelitian ini adalah bahwa faktor inti dari kepemimpinan gembala dalam pastoral konseling adalah pertumbuhan rohani.
