Abstract

Berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan di kelas VIII, Sekolah Lentera Harapan Gunungsitoli Utara, peneliti menemukan bahwa pemahaman konsep murid dalam mata pelajaran biologi sangat rendah. Hal ini dapat terjadi karena murid sulit untuk mengerti konsep dalam pelajaran biologi yang cenderung bersifat abstrak. Salah satu alasan yang menyebabkan hal ini dapat terjadi yaitu guru tidak menggunakan alat bantu yang dapat mempermudah murid untuk mengerti konsep yang abstrak seperti sistem organ manusia. Oleh karena itu, peneliti merencanakan untuk menerapkan media audiovisual, yang diharapkan dapat menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi, yaitu meningkatkan pemahaman konsep murid pada mata pelajaran biologi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Taggart yang berlangsung selama dua siklus sejak 10 Oktober�01 November 2016. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 37 orang murid. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar tes murid, angket murid, observasi check list mentor dan teman sejawat, dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media audiovisual dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep murid pada materi sistem organ manusia. Hasil ketercapaian pemahaman konsep terlihat dari peningkatan persentase keberhasilan murid pada indikator membedakan yaitu 83% menjadi 92% dan indikator menjelaskan yaitu 80% menjadi 88%. Pemahaman konsep murid meningkat karena penggunaan media audiovisual yang memiliki ciri-ciri menarik perhatian murid, dan menunjang pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran. / Based on the observation that was done in grade VII, Sekolah Lentera Harapan Gunungsitoli Utara, the researcher found that conceptual understanding of students in Biology subject was very low. That happened because students were not able to understand the concepts in Biology subject that looked abstract. The causing factor of this problem is because the teacher did not use the teaching aids that can help students to understand the abstract concept such as human organ system. According to this problem, the researcher planned to implement audiovisual media that probably can solve the problem, which is to increase the conceptual understanding of students in Biology subject. The research method that was used is Class Action Research (CAR) type Kemmis and Taggart that was held in 2 cycles since October 10th-November 1st 2016. The subject of this research was 37 students. The instruments that were used are students test sheet, students’ questionnaire, mentor and pair checklist observation, and the reflection journal of the researcher. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the use of audiovisual media can increase the conceptual understanding of students on the topic of the human organ system. The result of the conceptual understanding in this research can be seen from the enhancement of the success of students in the distinguishing indicator from 83% to 92% and explaining indicator from 80% to 88%. The conceptual understanding was increased because the use of audiovisual media has the characteristics in getting students attention and supporting in reaching the learning objectives.
