Abstract

Di dalam perusahaan konsultan seringkali klien memiliki kebutuhan dan tujuan tertentu yang memicu terjadinya permasalahan komunikasi atau disebut distorsi komunikasi, yang disebabkan faktor-faktor seperti kesalahpahaman antar anggota tim ataupun sistem komunikasi yang tidak terarah ketika menjalankan suatu proyek. Hal ini dialami oleh PT Hatch, sebuah perusahaan konsultan di sektor pertambangan, infrastruktur, dan energi, yang tentunya memiliki tingkat kompleksitas tinggi sehingga besar potensi munculnya distorsi komunikasi. Kickoff meeting merupakan salah satu alat manajemen proyek yang dapat diaplikasikan untuk mengatasi distorsi komunikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan kickoff meeting dalam mengurangi distorsi komunikasi proyek PT Hatch, yang menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan proses wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan uji keabsahan data dengan triangulasi. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa kickoff meeting memiliki peranan penting dalam mengurangi distorsi komunikasi proyek PT Hatch dikarenakan berbagai kriteria antara lain, Kickoff meeting mewajibkan seluruh anggota timnya untuk hadir agar pembagian tugas dan korespondensi menjadi lebih mudah; kickoff meeting dipimpin oleh seorang fasilitator dengan agenda yang sudah disiapkan dengan baik sehingga dapat menyelaraskan pemahaman antar seluruh anggota tim. Dengan begitu distorsi komunikasi dapat berkurang dengan ditandainya proyek berjalan tepat waktu, tidak ada pekerjaan ulang, kualitas kerja sesuai dengan harapan dan memenuhi kebutuhan klien. / Within a consulting company, clients often have specific needs and objectives that can trigger communication problems or what is called communication distortion. These problems can be caused by factors such as misunderstandings among team members or a lack of direction in the communication system when carrying out a project. PT Hatch, a consulting company in the mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors, experiences this, given its high level of complexity, which increases the potential for communication distortion. One of the projects management tools that can be applied to address communication distortion is the kickoff meeting. This research aims to determine the role of the kickoff meeting in reducing communication distortion in PT Hatch projects, using a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method. Data collection techniques involve in-depth interviews, observation, and data validity testing through triangulation. The research findings reveal that the kickoff meeting plays an important role in reducing communication distortion in PT Hatch projects due to several criteria. Firstly, the kickoff meeting requires the presence of all team members to facilitate task allocation and correspondence. Secondly, the kickoff meeting is led by a facilitator with a well-prepared agenda to align the understanding among all team members. As a result, communication distortion can be reduced, leading to projects being completed on time, minimizing rework, achieving quality work as expected, and meeting client requirements.
