Abstract

Referensi : 126 (1989-2022)/ Background : Good sleep quality is needed to build an optimal level of study skills. But in fact, due to heavy academic demands, lots of activities and tasks to do, and the vulnerability of medical students to experience psychological problems, result in the majority of medical students having poor sleep quality which will lead to the decline in the status of study skills. Poor study skills can be reflected by poor motivation, concentration, and time management, poor reading and writing abilities, and procastination which can result in unsatisfactory academic achievement results. Objectives : To evaluate the association between sleep quality and study skill in the pre-clinical medical students of UPH.Methodology: This study used a cross-sectional study design which was conducted on 138 pre-clinical medical students students of UPH in January 2023. The sample was selected using simple random sampling method. The data were obtained from the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Questionnaire and modified Study Skills Assessment Questionnaire. The results of the research were processed using the chi-square analytic method. Results: This study showed that there is a significant relationship between sleep quality and learning skills. The results of the study were obtained by the results of the chi-square test with a value of p = 0.002 which means p <α = 0.05. Odds Ratio value of 4.103 (95% CI = 1.778-9.467) was obtained which means poor sleep quality is a risk factor for low learning skills status. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between sleep quality and learning skills of pre-clinical medical students at the Faculty of Medicine Pelita Harapan University. Keyword: study skill, sleep quality, pre-clinical medical students of FK UPH.References : 126 (1989-2022)
