Abstract

The limitations and challenges caused by Covid 19 have had an impact on economic development while accelerating its digital transformation. Not to mention Southeast Asia which remains resilient. However, it doesn't happen the same way. To realize the region's full potential, improvements must be made in a number of areas, including information security, digital policy effectiveness, development of new customers and digital infrastructure. This research analyzes how Southeast Asia is seizing opportunities and navigating the challenges of digital transformation accelerated during Covid 19 for their economic recovery. This thesis does not discuss the role of ASEAN because ASEAN has not taken significant action in digitalization on how it can be involved as part of a strategy to integrate the regional economy. On the other hand, this thesis studies specifically four countries in Southeast Asia, namely Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and Myanmar, which based on the findings of this study, describe significant digital transformation, especially in the MSME & e-commerce sector. Furthermore, this thesis discusses the processes and actions of the four countries above in responding to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and post-pandemic economic recovery through digital transformation. Most of the data collected in this study comes from ASEAN publication sites, journals and government publications. Overall, this research justifies the need for further collaboration between the government and the private sector in accommodating the interest coming from SMEs that have contributed significantly to the country's economic recovery in maximizing opportunities & navigating digitization challenges. / Keterbatasan dan tantangan akibat Covid 19 berdampak pada pembangunan ekonomi sekaligus mempercepat transformasi digitalnya. Belum lagi Asia Tenggara yang tetap tangguh. Namun, itu tidak terjadi dengan cara yang sama. Untuk mewujudkan potensi penuh kawasan ini, perbaikan harus dilakukan di sejumlah area, termasuk keamanan informasi, efektivitas kebijakan digital, pengembangan konsumen baru, dan infrastruktur digital. Riset ini menganalisis bagaimana Asia Tenggara memanfaatkan peluang dan menavigasi tantangan transformasi digital yang dipercepat selama Covid 19 untuk pemulihan ekonomi mereka. Tesis ini tidak membahas tentang peran ASEAN karena ASEAN belum mengambil tindakan signifikan dalam digitalisasi tentang bagaimana ia dapat terlibat sebagai bagian dari strategi dalam mengintegrasikan ekonomi regional. Sebaliknya, tesis ini mempelajari secara khusus empat negara di Asia Tenggara yaitu Singapura, Indonesia, Vietnam, dan Myanmar, yang berdasarkan temuan penelitian ini, menggambarkan transformasi digital yang signifikan khususnya dalam di sektor UMKM & e-commerce. Lebih lanjut, tesis ini membahas proses dan tindakan keempat negara di atas dalam menjawab tantangan pandemi Covid-19 dan pemulihan ekonomi pasca pandemi melalui transformasi digital. Sebagian besar data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini berasal dari situs publikasi ASEAN, jurnal, dan publikasi pemerintah. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini membenarkan perlunya kolaborasi lebih lanjut antara pemerintah dan swasta dalam mengakomodasi minat yang datang dari UKM yang telah berkontribusi signifikan terhadap pemulihan ekonomi negara dalam memaksimalkan peluang & menavigasi tantangan digitalisasi.
