Abstract

Jerawat atau acne merupakan peradangan, peradangan dapat ditimbulkan oleh bakteri, salah satu bakteri yang dapat menyebabkan peradangan adalah Staphylococcus Epidermidis. Pengobatan jerawat dapat menggunakan antibiotik oral, salah satu contoh antibiotik tersebut adalah klindamisin. Namun penggunaan antibiotik terus menerus dapat menyebabkan resistensi, sehingga ditemukan cara alternative dalam mengobati jerawat yaitu dengan menggunakan bahan alam. Dengan penggunaan bahan alam diharapkan tidak menimbulkan efek samping seperti penggunaan antibiotik. Salah satu bahan alam yang dapat di gunakan adalah daun cincau (Cyclea Barbata Miers.). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri n-heksan dan etil asetat daun cincau terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus Epidermidis. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan adalahh maserasi dengan menggunakan pelarut n-heksan dan etil asetat serta metode pengujian aktivitas bakteri menggunakan metode kertas cakram untuk mengukur daya hambat. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etil asetat dengan 100 ppm memiliki daya hambat “intermediate” dan ekstrak n-heksan dengan 10.000 ppm memiliki daya hambat “intermediate” jika dibandingkan dengan klindamisin sebagai kontrol positif./Acne or acne is inflammation, inflammation can be caused by bacteria, one of the bacteria that can cause inflammation is Staphylococcus Epidermidis. Acne treatment can use oral antibiotics, one example of these antibiotics is clindamycin. However, the continuous use of antibiotics can cause resistance, so an alternative way of treating acne is found, namely by using natural ingredients. With the use of natural ingredients, it is hoped that it will not cause side effects such as the use of antibiotics. One of the natural ingredients that can be used is grass jelly leaves (Cyclea Barbata Miers.). This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of n-hexane and ethyl acetate of grass jelly leaves against Staphylococcus Epidermidis bacteria. The extraction method used was maceration using n-hexane and ethyl acetate solvents and the method of testing bacterial activity using the paper disc method to measure inhibition. This study showed that the ethyl acetate extract at 100 ppm had an "intermediate" inhibition and the n-hexane extract at 10,000 ppm had an "intermediate" inhibition when compared to clindamycin as a positive control.
