Abstract

Radikal bebas merupakan salah satu molekul yang memiliki kandungan satu atau lebih dari satu elektron yang tidak saling berpasangan. Ketika didalam tubuh, radikal bebas akan berubah menjadi senyawa yang lebih reaktif yang dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya suatu penyakit. Radikal bebas terjadi didalam tubuh melalui pendonor elektron yang menghambat terjadinya proses antioksidan. Salah satu tumbuhan yang berpotensi sebagai antioksidan adalah daun reundeu (Staurogyne elongata (Nees) Kuntze). Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menentukan kandungan metabolit sekunder dan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol daun reundeu 70% (Staurogyne elongata (Nees) Kuntze) dengan menggunakan metode DPPH yang dapat dinyatakan dengan parameter IC50. Daun reundeu dikumpulkan kemudian diekstraksi dengan cara maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 70%, dilanjutkan dengan skrining fitokimia kemudian diuji aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH. Hasil proses ekstraksi diperoleh rendemen sebesar 14,27%. Hasil skrining fitokimia ekstrak mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, fenol, tanin dan terpenoid. Hasil uji kuantitatif aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan nilai IC50 ekstrak sebesar 98,746 µg/ml. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh dengan parameter IC50, ekstrak etanol 70% daun reundeu (Staurogyne elongata (Nees) Kuntze) mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan kategori sedang. / Free radicals are molecules that contain one or more unpaired electrons. When in the body, free radicals will turn into more reactive compounds that can cause disease. Free radicals occur in the body through electron donors which inhibit the occurrence of antioxidant processes. One of the plants that has the potential as an antioxidant is reundeu leaves (Staurogyne elongata (Nees) Kuntze). This research was conducted with the aim of determining the secondary metabolite content and antioxidant activity of the 70% reundeu leaf ethanol extract (Staurogyne elongata (Nees) Kuntze) using the DPPH method which can be expressed by the parameter IC50. Reundeu leaves were collected and then extracted by maceration with 70% ethanol solvent, followed by phytochemical screening and then tested for antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. The results of the extraction process obtained a yield of 14.27%. The results of the phytochemical screening of extracts contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenols, tannins and terpenoids. The results of the quantitative test for antioxidant activity showed that the IC50 value of the extract was 98.746 µg/ml. Based on the results obtained with the IC50 parameter, the 70% ethanol extract of reundeu (Staurogyne elongata (Nees) Kuntze) leaves has moderate antioxidant activity.
