Abstract

Sinar matahari memberikan efek yang menguntungkan, namun juga memberikan efek yang merugikan bagi makhluk hidup. Efek yang merugikan dari sinar matahari disebabkan oleh sinar UVA dan UVB. Kerusakan kulit akibat paparan sinar UV yang berlebih seperti kemerahan, pigmentasi hingga kanker. Hal ini dapat dicegah dengan menggunakan tabir surya yang akan melindungi kulit dari dampak negatif paparan sinar UV. Daun teh hijau (Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze) mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder flavonoid dengan mekanisme menyerap sinar UVA dan UVB. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka daun teh hijau (Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze) dapat digunakan sebagai bahan aktif untuk sediaan tabir surya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi sediaaan losion tabir surya ekstrak daun teh hijau melalui penentuan nilai SPF dengan menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Formula sediaan losion tabir surya dibuat dengan empat variasi ekstrak daun teh hijau 5%; 7,5%, dan 10%. Ekstrak etanol 70% daun teh hijau berpotensi sebagai bahan aktif sediaan tabir surya karena memberikan nilai SPF pada sediaan dengan kategori proteksi sedang hingga tinggi. Kadar ekstrak daun teh hijau yang memiliki nilai SPF paling tinggi yaitu 7,5% (formula 2) pada konsentrasi 5000 ppm. Formula sediaan losion tabir surya ekstrak etanol daun teh hijau memenuhi persyaratan sediaan losion dari parameter viskositas, daya sebar, dan pH serta memiliki tipe emulsi minyak dalam air. / Sunlight has a beneficial effects, but also give harmful effects for living things. The harmful effects of sunlight are caused by UVA and UVB rays. Skin damage due to excessive exposure to UV rays such as redness, pigmentation to cancer. This can be prevented by using sunscreen. Sunscreen will protect the skin from the negative effects of UV rays. Green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze) having secondary metabolites of flavonoids with a mechanism of absorbing UVA and UVB rays. Based on this, green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze) can be used as active ingredients for sunscreen product. This study aims to determine the potency of sunscreen lotion with 70% ethanol extract of green tea leaves by determining the SPF value using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The sunscreen lotion formulation was made with four variations of 5%; 7,5%; 10% green tea leaf extract. The 70% ethanol extract of green tea leaves has the potential to be an active ingredient in sunscreen preparations because it provides an SPF value in the moderate to high protection category. The level of green tea leaf extract that has the highest SPF value is 7.5% (formula 2) at a concentration of 5000 ppm. The formulation sunscreen of ethanol 70% greentea extract qualify the requirement of lotion in viscosity, spreadability, pH parameters and has an oil-in-water emulsion type.
