Abstract

Infeksi adalah suatu proses masuknya mikroorganisme berupa bakteri, virus, atau parasit ke dalam tubuh dan menyebabkan penyakit. Salah satu bakteri penyebab infeksi adalah bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis yang dapat menimbulkan penyakit jerawat. Rumput mutiara (Oldenlandia corymbosa L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas ekstrak etanol 70% rumput mutiara terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis sebagai antibakteri. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode difusi sumuran dengan mengukur zona bening yang terbentuk pada sekitar area lubang sumuran setelah diinkubasi pada suhu 37°C selama 24 jam dan menentukan konsentrasi hambat minimum dengan metode dilusi cair dengan membandingkan kekeruhan secara visual. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi ekstrak 1.000.000 ppm memiliki daya hambat paling tinggi dengan kategori “resistant” dengan diameter rata-rata 12,66 mm. Konsentrasi hambat minimum dalam penelitian ini adalah 2500 ppm. / Infection is a process of entry of microorganisms in the form of bacteria, viruses, or parasites into the body and cause disease. One of the bacteria that causes infection is Staphylococcus epidermidis which can cause acne. flat-top mille graines (Oldenlandia corymbosa L.) is a plant that has antibacterial activity. This study aims to determine the activity of 70% ethanol extract of flat-top mille graines against Staphylococcus epidermidis as an antibacterial. The method used in this study was the well-diffusion method by measuring the clear zone formed around the wellbore area after incubation at 37°C for 24 hours and determining the minimum inhibitory concentration by the liquid dilution method by visually comparing turbidity. The results of this study indicate that the extract concentration of 1.000.000 ppm has the highest inhibition in the "resistant" category with an average diameter of 12,66 mm. The minimum inhibitory concentration in this study was 2500 ppm.
