Abstract

Melon merupakan buah yang banyak digemari masyarakat dan kaya akan manfaat, namun ada pula limbahnya yakni biji melon yang ternyata memiliki kandungan senyawa flavonoid yang bermanfaat sebagai antioksidan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak dan sediaan serum ekstrak etanol biji melon. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian pada ekstrak, pembuatan sediaan serum dan pengujian aktivitas antioksidan sediaan serum serta evaluasi mutu fisik sediaan serum dan uji hedonik atau uji kesukaan terhadap masyarakat. Hasil ekstraksi memperoleh rendemen ekstrak sebesar 7,14%, memiliki kandungan senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, dan steroid. Ekstrak etanol 96% biji melon memiliki antivitas antioksidan sedang jika dengan perbandingan (1:2) yakni sebesar 96 μg/mL, sedangkan dengan perbandingan (1:1) memiliki aktivitas antioksidan kuat yakni sebesar 37 μg/mL. Formula ekstrak etanol dibuat dalam tiga variasi humektan. Basis serum dan sediaan serum ekstrak etanol 96% biji melon setiap formula nya telah memenuhi syarat mutu fisik sediaan yakni uji organoleptik, uji pH, uji homogenitas, uji viskositas, uji bobot jenis dan uji daya lekat. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol 96% biji melon dapat diformulasikan dalam sediaan serum dengan bahan pembentuk gel yakni xanthan gum dengan variasi humektan yakni gliserin, propilen glikol dan butilen glikol. Namun, perlu adanya pengembangan formula lagi sehingga formula yang dihasilkan bisa memuaskan responden. / Melon is a fruit that is popular with the public and is rich in benefits, but there is also waste, namely melon seeds which contain flavonoid compounds which are useful as antioxidants. Therefore, this study aims to determine the activity of antioxidant extracts and serum preparations of ethanol extract of melon seeds. In this study, testing was carried out on extracts, making serum preparations and testing the antioxidant activity of serum preparations as well as evaluating the quality of physical serum preparations and hedonic tests or people's preference tests. The extraction results obtained an extract yield of 7.14%, containing alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and steroids. The 96% ethanol extract of melon seeds has moderate antioxidant activity in a ratio (1:2), which is 96 μg/mL, while in a ratio (1:1) it has a strong antioxidant activity, namely 37 μg/mL. Made into three formulas containing 96% ethanol extract of melon seeds with humectant variations. Serum base and serum preparations of 96% ethanol extract of melon seeds for each formula have met the quality requirements for physical preparations, namely organoleptic test, pH test, homogeneity test, viscosity test, specific gravity test and adhesion test. Thus, it can be concluded that 96% ethanol extract of melon seeds can be formulated in serum preparations with gel-forming ingredients, namely xanthan gum with variations of humectants namely glycerin, propylene glycol and butylene glycol. However, it is necessary to develop more formulas so that the resulting formula can satisfy the respondents.
