Abstract

Daun Adam Hawa (Rhoeo discolor L.) adalah daun yang identik dengan adanya warna ungu dan hijau. Daun Adam Hawa memiliki kandungan senyawa flavonoid yang berperan sebagai antibakteri yang dapat digunakan dalam pengobatan infeksi bakteri. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri daun adam hawa terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes, dan mengetahui senyawa metabolit sekunder yang terkandung di dalam ekstrak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode difusi sumuran dan kontrol positif yang digunakan yaitu Vankomisin. Hasil yang di dapat yaitu ekstrak etanol 70% daun adam hawa memiliki rendemen sebesai 11%, kadar air sebesar 1,77%, dan memiliki metabolit sekunder alkaloid dan flavonoid. Ekstrak daun adam hawa menghasilkan zona hambat pada konsentrasi 125.000 ppm, 250.000 ppm, dan 500.000 ppm. Dalam menganalisis data yang diperoleh,dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol 70% daun adam hawa menghasilkan zona hambat yang lebih lemah dari kontrol positif Vankomisin dan aktivitas antibakteri yang dimiliki ekstrak tergolong dalam kategori “Resistant“ / Adam Hawa leaves (Rhoeo discolor L.) are identical leaves with purple and green colors. Adam Hawa leaves contain flavonoid compounds which act as antibacterials which can be used in the treatment of bacterial infections. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of adam hawa leaves against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria, and to determine the secondary metabolites contained in the extract. The method used in this study was the well-diffusion method and the positive control used was Vancomycin. The results obtained were that the 70% ethanol extract of adam hawa leaves had a yield of 11%, a water content of 1.77%, and had secondary metabolites of alkaloids and flavonoids. Adam hawa leaf extract produced inhibition zones at concentrations of 125,000 ppm, 250,000 ppm, and 500,000 ppm. In analyzing the data obtained, it can be concluded that the 70% ethanol extract of adam hawa leaves produces an inhibition zone that is weaker than the vancomycin positive control and the antibacterial activity of the extract belongs to the "Resistant" category.
