Abstract

Latar Belakang: Kecemasan terjadi ketika seseorang sedang berada di bawah tekanan. Manifestasi yang dialami seseorang ketika cemas sangat beragam tergantung bagaimana tubuh merespon dan memproses stresor tersebut. Berdasarkan studi, tingkat kecemasan mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran cenderung lebih berat dibanding dengan fakultas lainnya. Kecemasan dikatakan berhubungan dengan nyeri leher karena adanya keterlibatan dari sejumlah neurotransmiter dan aksis HPA yang terganggu. Penelitian serupa sudah pernah dilakukan sebelumnya namun tanpa mengontrol faktor perancu. Selain itu, belum ada penelitian mengenai hubungan tingkat kecemasan nyeri leher pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran di Indonesia. Tujuan: Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara tingkat kecemasan dengan nyeri leher pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran. Metode: Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah potong lintang dengan jumlah minimal sampel sebesar 208 orang. Sampel dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Pengambilan data akan dilakukan dari bulan Januari 2023 sampai Maret 2023. Data yang telah terkumpul kemudian akan diolah dan dianalisis menggunakan Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) dengan metode chi-square. Hasil: Dari 214 responden yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi, terdapat 155 orang (72.4%) memiliki jenis kelamin wanita dan 59 orang (27.6%) adalah pria. Untuk prevalensi kecemasan, 33.6% mengalami kecemasan dengan tingkat cemas yang paling tinggi terdapat pada kategori cemas sedang sebesar 32 orang (15%) dan yang paling rendah adalah cemas berat sebanyak 12 orang (5.6%). Sedangkan untuk kejadian nyeri leher dialami oleh 85 orang (39.7%) dan 129 orang (60.2%) tidak mengalami nyeri leher. Berdasarkan uji chi-square, nilai P-value yang didapatkan sebesar <0.001. Kesimpulan: Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan terdapat hubungan antara tingkat kecemasan dengan nyeri leher pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran UPH karena nilai P-value yang didapatkan yaitu <0.001./ Background: Anxiety occurs when a person is under pressure. The manifestations that a person experiences when anxious are very diverse, and of course, each individual has different symptoms depending on how the body responds and processes the stressor. One of the causes of anxiety symptoms is when the day of the exam approaches. Studies show that students' anxiety level at the Faculty of Medicine tends to be more severe just before exams. Anxiety is associated with neck pain because of the involvement of several neurotransmitters and the disrupted HPA axis. Similar studies have been conducted before but without controlling for confounding factors. In addition, no research has been conducted on the relationship between anxiety levels with neck pain in medical students in Indonesia. Purpose: Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between anxiety levels and neck pain in students of Medical Faculty UPH. Methods: The method used in this study was cross-sectional, with a minimum sample size of 208 people. The sample was selected based on the purposive sampling technique. Data collection will be carried out from January 2023 to March 2023. The collected data will then be processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) with the chi-square method. Results: Of the 214 respondents who met the inclusion criteria, there were 155 people (72.4%) who were female and 59 people (27.6%) were male. For the prevalence of anxiety, 33.6% experienced anxiety with the highest level of anxiety being in the moderate anxiety category of 32 people (15%) and the lowest being severe anxiety of 12 people (5.6%). Whereas the incidence of neck pain was experienced by 85 people (39.7%) and 129 people (60.2%) did not experience neck pain. Based on the chi-square test, the P-value obtained was <0.001. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between the level of anxiety and neck pain in UPH Faculty of Medicine students because the P-value obtained is <0.001.
