Abstract

Background: Dengue is a tropical disease caused by at least one DENV serotype which incidence increasing annually. Mismanagement of disease will be a burden to health care system. Number of literature and research regarding correlation between dengue serotypes, days of onset, and basic hematological results still low, further research are expected to reduce probability of impact on health care system. Aim: This study aims to determine the correlation between dengue serotypes, days of onset, and basic hematological results in patients with dengue infection in Siloam Teaching Hospital. Hypothesis: There is a correlation between dengue serotype with days of onset and basic hematological results of dengue patients in Siloam Teaching Hospital. Methods: Cross-sectional study with a total sample of 104 will be conducted by purposive sampling from Siloam Teaching Hospital database of dengue infection patients in 2019-2020, Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test will be performed prior to ANOVA/Kruskal Wallis test. Result: The hypothesis test showed that dengue serotype correlated significantly with days of onset and percentage of lymphocytes (p=0,010). The mean value of days of onset was highest on DENV-1 patients (3,25±0,93 days) and patients with mixed infection (3,25±0,87 days). Highest percentage of lymphocytes was seen on on mixed infection patients (35,58±19,10%). Conclusion: There is a correlation between dengue serotype with days of onset and percentage of lymphocyte.
