Abstract

High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) merupakan keterampilan berpikir yang dibutuhkan untuk menjawab tantangan di abad ke-21 sebab siswa diharapkan dapat menganalisis, menyelesaikan, dan mensintesis ide berinovasi terhadap suatu permasalahan. Data penelitian dari salah satu SMP Kristen di Tangerang menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas VII pada mata pelajaran IPA Terpadu masih belum mampu menganalisis dan menghadirkan solusi permasalahan yang mengandung indikator HOTS dengan tepat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif untuk mengetahui peranan dan langkah-langkah penerapan metode pembelajaran berbasis masalah sebagai upaya meningkatkan HOTS siswa kelas VII pada mata pelajaran IPA Terpadu. Peningkatan capaian siswa dapat diketahui bahwa penerapan metode pembelajaran berbasis masalah mampu mengupayakan peningkatan HOTS siswa. Hal tersebut terlihat melalui peningkatan indikator C4 dari 39,28% menjadi masing-masing sebesar 82,14%, 87,50%, dan 89,28% serta peningkatan indikator C5 dari 35% menjadi masing-masing sebesar 78,57%, 80,76%, dan 84,61% pada penerapan pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Pendidikan Kristen memandang bahwa pengembangan HOTS siswa sejatinya relevan dengan prinsip Alkitab. Pembelajaran berbasis masalah membantu guru Kristen sebagai fasilitator untuk menghadirkan pembelajaran berwawasan alkitabiah dan menghindari kehadiran filsafat posmodernisme. Siswa diharapkan dapat mengoptimalkan kognitifnya sekaligus mengerjakan panggilannya sebagai seorang pengikut Kristus. Penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan dapat mengupayakan peningkatan ketiga indikator HOTS siswa hingga level kognitif tertinggi melalui pembelajaran berbasis masalah/High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are thinking skills needed to answer challenges in the 21st century because students are expected to be able to analyze, solve and synthesize innovative ideas for a problem. Research data from a Christian junior high school in Tangerang shows that class VII students in the Integrated Science subject are still unable to analyze and present solutions to problems that contain HOTS indicators correctly. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods to determine the role and steps for implementing problem-based learning methods as an effort to increase the HOTS of class VII students in Integrated Science subjects. It can be seen from increasing student achievement that the application of problem-based learning methods is able to increase student HOTS. This can be seen through an increase in the C4 indicator from 39.28% to 82.14%, 87.50% and 89.28% respectively and an increase in the C5 indicator from 35% to 78.57%, 80 respectively. .76%, and 84.61% in the application of problem-based learning. Christian education views that student HOTS development is relevant to Biblical principles. Problem-based learning helps Christian teachers as facilitators to present learning with a biblical perspective and avoid the presence of postmodernist philosophy. Students are expected to be able to optimize their cognitive abilities while carrying out their calling as followers of Christ. It is hoped that future research can strive to increase students' three HOTS indicators to the highest cognitive level through problem-based learning.
