Abstract

Students' writing production difficulties can be identified through their writing progress. This is urgent because the written students’ ideas can proclaim Christ to others. Students belong to Christ therefore they should proclaim Christ through all their life aspects including through writing. Therefore, the aim of this research is to find out why students could experience difficulty in writing production and to find out the effect of implementing guided questions to help the students overcome this problem. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The results of the discussion are that the writing production difficulty can happen because of the students’ lack of understanding about the current type of text they are currently learning. Also, the results showed that the students produced the Informational Text after the implementation of the guided questions. The guided question as a way to scaffold students’ writing production. In conclusion, the use of guided questions successfully works to scaffold the students in their writing production. The researcher recommends that future researchers study the possible factors that can affect the students’ writing development. / Kesulitan siswa dalam pembuatan tulisan dapat diketahui melalui laju menulisnya. Hal ini penting karena gagasan siswa yang tertulis dapat mewartakan Kristus kepada orang lain. Siswa adalah milik Kristus oleh karena itu hendaknya mereka mewartakan Kristus melalui seluruh aspek kehidupannya termasuk melalui tulisan. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui mengapa siswa dapat mengalami kesulitan dalam pembuatan tulisan dan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan guided question untuk membantu siswa mengatasi masalah ini. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian adalah kesulitan siswa dalam pembuatan tulisan dapat terjadi karena kurangnya pemahaman siswa tentang jenis teks yang sedang mereka pelajari. Selain itu, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa mampu menulis Informational Text setelah penerapan guided question. Guided question adalah bentuk scaffolding yang diberikan kepada siswa untuk membantu mereka salam pembuatan tulisan. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan guided question berhasil membantu siswa dalam pembuatan tulisan mereka. Peneliti merekomendasikan agar peneliti selanjutnya mempelajari faktor-faktor yang mungkin mempengaruhi perkembangan menulis siswa.
