Abstract

Students have a responsibility to show self-control and discipline in the classroom. However, during the practicum in private school in West Jakarta, the grade 7 students showed some of negative behavior that disrupt the learning process, such as disruptive behavior, aggression, withdrawal, and defiance behavior, can happen because of external and internal factors. Therefore, a Christian teacher has a siginificant role in this situation, which is to educate students on characters by being a shepherd. Therefore, this paper aims to explore about a teacher's role as a shepherd to guide students’ behavior in transition classrooms, especially after the pandemic COVID-19 context that has seen many students' negative behaviors disrupt the learning process. The method used is qualitative descriptive and the data is taken from the researcher’s practicum portfolio. The result shows that the four components of a teacher’s role as a shepherd that can be implemented are to know, feed, guide, and protect can bring some changes in students' behavior even though not that significant. Also, some challenges that make the role not effective enough, such as teacher’s limitations, student’s different needs and characters, parents’ support, and time limitation./ Siswa memiliki tanggung jawab untuk menunjukkan kontrol diri dan disiplin di dalam kelas.
