Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of self-efficacy on the academic procrastination of final year students Strata One (S1) studying at universities located in the Jabodetabek area. Final year students have greater challenges than students at the beginning or middle level. This is because final year students are faced with assignments that must be completed for graduation requirements. With the academic challenges they face, final year students often engage in academic procrastination. Academic procrastination risks making students' academic lives filled with anxiety, stress, guilt and regret which have a negative impact on students' academic life satisfaction. Self-efficacy is required to carry out the tasks and challenges faced to achieve the results desired by students. With self-efficacy, students will have better resilience and exert more effort in the process of completing academic assignments. The research method used is non-experimental quantitative using the Self-efficacy Scale and the Tuckman Procrastination Scale. The subjects in this study were 122 young adults aged 20-23 years, who were obtained through the purposive sampling method. The data is processed using simple regression techniques. The results of the research show that self-efficacy has a influence on the academic procrastination of final year students studying at universities in the Jabodetabek area. /Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh self-efficacy terhadap prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa tingkat akhir Strata Satu (S1) yang berkuliah pada Universitas yang terletak di daerah Jabodetabek. Mahasiswa tingkat akhir memiliki tantangan yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan mahasiswa pada tingkat awal ataupun pertengahan. Hal ini dikarenakan mahasiswa tingkat akhir dihadapi dengan tugas-tugas yang harus dikerjakan sebagai syarat kelulusan. Dengan tantangan akademik yang dihadapi, mahasiswa tingkat akhir seringkali melakukan prokrastinasi akademik. Prokrastinasi akademik beresiko membuat kehidupan akademik mahasiswa dipenuhi dengan kecemasan, stres, rasa bersalah, dan penyesalan yang berdampak negatif pada kepuasan kehidupan akademik mahasiswa. Diperlukan adanya self-efficacy untuk mengerjakan tugas serta tantangan yang dihadapi hingga mencapai hasil yang diinginkan oleh mahasiwa. Semakin tinggi self-efficacy yang dimiliki, mahasiswa akan memiliki ketahanan yang lebih baik dan mengerahkan upaya lebih dalam proses pengerjaan tugas akademik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif non-eksperimental menggunakan Self-efficacy Scale dan Tuckman Procrastination Scale. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah dewasa muda berusia 20-23 tahun sebanyak 122 orang, yang diperoleh melalui metode purposive sampling. Data diolah dengan teknik regresi sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa self-efficacy memiliki pengaruh terhadap prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa tingkat akhir yang berkuliah di Universitas di daerah Jabodetabek.
