Abstract

Emerging adult merupakan masa perubahan dari remaja menuju dewasa dimana mereka mengalami perubahan serta melakukan eksplorasi diri. Salah satu perubahan yang dialami yaitu perubahan fisik. Ada orang yang menyukai perubahan tersebut, namun ada juga yang tidak menyukai perubahan tersebut. Penilaian diri tentang penampilan fisik seseorang disebut juga dengan body image. Terdapat beberapa faktor yang memengaruhi body image, salah satunya media massa. Salah satu idola yang banyak digemari oleh emerging adult yaitu K-Pop idol. Hal yang menjadi daya tarik dari K-Pop idol yaitu mereka memiliki bakat serta bentuk tubuh yang ideal. Hal tersebut dapat mempengaruhi bagaimana body image emerging adult. Melihat hal tersebut, maka peneliti melakukan penelitian kuantitatif untuk mengetahui pengaruh celebrity worship terhadap body image pada penggemar K-Pop idol. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu emerging adult berusia 18-25 tahun yang merupakan penggemar K-Pop idol. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scales (MBSRQ-AS) untuk body image serta Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS) untuk celebrity worship. Hasil dari uji pengaruh yang didapatkan bahwa celebrity worship berpengaruh signifikan positif terhadap dimensi body image namun hanya pada dimensi dimensi appearance evaluation dan body areas satisfaction scale. / Emerging adult is a period of transition from adolescence to adult where individuals undergo changes and self-exploration. One of the changes experienced is physical transformation. Some people embrace these changes, while others do not. Self-evaluation of one's physical appearance is also referred to as body image. Several factors influence body image, one of which is mass media. One of the idols widely admired by emerging adults is K-Pop idols. What makes K-Pop idols appealing is their talent and ideal body shape. This can influence the body image of emerging adults. Given this, researchers conducted a quantitative study to investigate the influence of celebrity worship on body image among K-Pop idol fans. The subjects in this study are emerging adults aged 18-25 who are fans of K-Pop idols. The research instruments used were the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scales (MBSRQ-AS) for body image and the Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS) for celebrity worship. The results of the impact analysis showed that celebrity worship has a significant positive impact on dimension of body image, but only in the dimensions of appearance evaluation and body areas satisfaction scale.
