Abstract

Pemahaman konsep matematis merupakan kecakapan yang perlu siswa miliki. Kemampuan pemahaman konsep menjadi bagian yang sangat penting untuk dimiliki oleh siswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan. Namun, pada fakta yang terjadi peneliti menemukan rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis di kelas VIII salah satu SMP di daerah lampung. Salah satu upaya guru dalam membantu pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yaitu dengan penerapan pembelajaran kontekstual. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif dan bertujuan memaparkan implementasi pembelajaran kontekstual dalam membantu kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa kelas VIII. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran kontekstual dapat membantu pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Hal tersebut dapat tercapai karena siswa mampu mengetahui hubungan konsep materi dengan kehidupan nyata. Untuk merancang pembelajaran guru perlu memiliki cara pandang yang benar terhadap siswa. Guru perlu melihat siswa sebagai Image of God yang unik. Keunikan tersebut menyebabkan kebutuhan tiap siswa yang beragam. Pemilihan model pembelajaran yang digunakan sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan karakteristik siswa yang beragam. Proses pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan guru diharapkan membawa pembelajaran bermakna bagi siswa. Melalui kegiatan pembelajaran kontekstual siswa menemukan kebermaknaan materi pembelajarannya dengan kehidupan nyata. Dalam penerapan pembelajaran kontekstual, guru disarankan untuk terus mengembangkan dan mengevaluasi sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa / Understanding mathematical concepts is a skill that students need to have. Concept understanding ability is a very important part to be owned by students in solving problems. However, in the facts that occurred, the researcher found the low ability to understand mathematical concepts in class VIII of one of the junior high schools in the Lampung area. One of the teacher's efforts in helping students' understanding of mathematical concepts is by applying contextual learning. The research was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods and aimed to explain the implementation of contextual learning in helping the mathematical understanding ability of grade VIII students. The results showed that the application of contextual learning can help students' understanding of mathematical concepts. This can be achieved because students are able to know the relationship of material concepts with real life. To design learning, teachers need to have the right perspective towards students. Teachers need to see students as a unique Image of God. So that this uniqueness causes the needs of each student to vary. The choice of learning model used is in accordance with the needs and characteristics of diverse students. The learning process carried out by teachers is expected to bring meaningful learning to students. Through contextual learning activities students find the meaningfulness of their learning material with real life. In implementing contextual learning, teachers are advised to continue to develop and evaluate according to student needs
