Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan bagian yang penting dalam perkembangan individu, namun dalam usaha mencapai prestasi akademik terdapat berbagai tantangan yang seringkali menghasilkan stres akademik. Stres akademik dapat ditimbulkan karena interaksi antara individu dengan lingkungan dianggap sebagai hal yang memberikan tekanan melebihi kemampuan yang biasanya dimiliki oleh siswa saat mereka menghadapi kegiatan yang berkaitan dengan pembelajaran atau sekolah. Sumber stres akademik biasanya muncul dari proses pembelajaran seperti tekanan untuk mendapatkan nilai baik, beban tugas yang banyak, mendapatkan nilai rendah, dan ketakutan akan ujian. Selain itu stres akademik dapat diperoleh ketika ada tuntutan dari orangtua, teman sebaya, ataupun guru untuk meraih prestasi sehingga ada tekanan psikologis yang mempengaruhi prestasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat stres akademik pada siswa SMP X menggunakan alat ukur Educational Stress Scale for Adolescence (ESSA) oleh Sun, et al (2011). Penelitian ini merupakan analisis deskriptif kemudian menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan pada penelitian ini terdiri atas 5 dimensi yaitu kegiatan belajar, beban kerja/tugas , kekhawatiran terhadap nilai , harapan terhadap diri sendiri, dan keputusasaan. Hasil pada penelitian ini secara keseluruhan menunjukan bahwa stres akademik pada siswa SMP X memiliki hasil yang rendah. Akan tetapi dimensi kekhawatiran terhadap nilai memiliki nilai yang tertinggi pada siswa SMP X./ Education is an important part of an individual's development, but in the pursuit of academic achievement there are various challenges that often result in academic stress. Academic stress can be caused because the interaction between individuals and the environment is perceived as something that puts pressure beyond the capabilities that students usually have when they face activities related to learning or school. Sources of academic stress usually arise from the learning process such as pressure to get good grades, heavy assignment loads, getting low grades, and fear of exams. In addition, academic stress can be obtained when there are demands from parents, peers, or teachers to achieve so that there is psychological pressure that affects student learning achievement. This study aims to look at academic stress in junior high school students of school X using the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescence (ESSA) measuring instrument by Sun, et al (2011). This research is a descriptive analysis then uses a purposive sampling method. The measuring instrument used in this study consists of 5 dimensions which consists of attitudes towards study and grades, perceived burden, expectations from others, self-expectation, and attitudes toward study and grades. The results in this study overall show that academic stress in junior high school X has low results. However, the dimension of expectations from others has the highest score on junior high school students of school X.
